Shortlisted as one of the smart cities, Bhubaneswar today is a model of livability evident by the city’s stable growth rate in the recent decades. On the other hand, the city faces challenges that are negative consequences of urbanization faced by many cities. We now suffer from a growing threat to losing our open spaces to urban sprawl, increasing private vehicle ownership, and recently being ranked 25th among the 28 state capitals under the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The challenge now before us - in shaping the Bhubaneswar for the next generation - is to strategically leverage our strengths as we grow, while turning around the negatives. With your participation, the Bhubaneswar Smart City Proposal will provide solutions to ensure a sustainable, inclusive and resilient future for all its citizens. In order to succeed in this ambitious mission. WE need YOU!

We invite the residents of Bhubaneswar to share their views and thoughts on the most pressing challenges that the citizens face to turn Bhubaneswar into a Smart City?

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Deepak Chopra and Beatles are his followers. He has an architecture institute and has world wide projects with Vaasthu and a TV channel dedicated to Vaasthu. Why dont we take his help in planning a Vedic City http://www.vediccityplanning.com/ http://www.vediccityplanning.com/institute/worldwide-projects/ http://www.vastutv.com/ http://www.vastutv.com/

The grate challenge of smart city is the storm water disposal. So, first priority should given for design of master plan drain considering catchment area & discharge then master plan roads.

First priority should be given to relocate all slum dweller from the city and those areas should developed as park. Then all plans thought for a smart city can truly be achieved.

With that objective of smart city, I think Infocity smart district would be better after town centre district. The existing infrastructure there might be useful for subsequent development with state of the art enabling infrastructure for growth and spread of the intended activities. But the challenge might be utilisation of forest land.
