The State Transport Authority (STA), U.T., Chandigarh has initiated a citywide enforcement campaign against the illegal and pollution causing vehicles, especially diesel auto-rickshaws that had been plying in the city. This drive had been initiated in the entire city to take a firm step towards creating a pollution free environment in the city, keeping in mind the larger public health concerns of the residents.

As per the latest data submitted by the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC), there has been a significant decline in the various pollutants including SPM, RSPM, SO2, and NOx in various places of Chandigarh being monitored by CPCC over the past two weeks, ever since the drive was started by the State Transport Authority.

Meanwhile, to facilitate passenger movement, Chandigarh Administration is also strengthening its public transport system, by increasing the number & frequency of buses of the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) and also enhancing their routes.

In view of this recent anti-pollution campaign of the State Transport Authority, Chandigarh Administration hereby invites citizens of Chandigarh to tell us what is their opinion about the banning of illegal and pollution causing diesel auto-rickshaws in Chandigarh. Further, suggestions/ideas are invited from the residents to help us ensure that a clean and pollution free air is provided in the City Beautiful.

Please bring road worthy system for vehicles where a car should not be allowed registration if its not road worthy. And car registration should be done every year. Thats when road worthiness should be checked.

You need to provide disabled friendly buses. Make your city disabled friendly. Go and study public transport of australia, where i am right now. You will be shocked how far behind we are in this world. Look at the standard of cleanliness at your bus stands. Improve them.

Ban diesel vehicles, start providing high octane fuel for cars which will suit bs6 standards or whichever the goverment has proposed. Improve public transport. Monorail is good for chandigarh. You need to implement monorail instead of metro. Improve public transport by making all buses a/c and increasing frequency and design so that it should be disabled friendly too. Bring a single card systems which should be recharged instead of ticketing system

Government should increase bus service so that public will not suffer any problem while travelling. In nearby places like mohali, there is no good bus services so public has suffered a lot. so government should make some measure before banning diesel auto.

No doubt it is good step taken by government to prevent the city from pollution but it causes lot of problems to public as double fare charge , non-availability of auto on time.So government should also make some measure to control the above problems.
