The State Transport Authority (STA), U.T., Chandigarh has initiated a citywide enforcement campaign against the illegal and pollution causing vehicles, especially diesel auto-rickshaws that had been plying in the city. This drive had been initiated in the entire city to take a firm step towards creating a pollution free environment in the city, keeping in mind the larger public health concerns of the residents.

As per the latest data submitted by the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC), there has been a significant decline in the various pollutants including SPM, RSPM, SO2, and NOx in various places of Chandigarh being monitored by CPCC over the past two weeks, ever since the drive was started by the State Transport Authority.

Meanwhile, to facilitate passenger movement, Chandigarh Administration is also strengthening its public transport system, by increasing the number & frequency of buses of the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) and also enhancing their routes.

In view of this recent anti-pollution campaign of the State Transport Authority, Chandigarh Administration hereby invites citizens of Chandigarh to tell us what is their opinion about the banning of illegal and pollution causing diesel auto-rickshaws in Chandigarh. Further, suggestions/ideas are invited from the residents to help us ensure that a clean and pollution free air is provided in the City Beautiful.

In my openion i would like to say that there must be an organisation which would check the pollution and teach other especially the youth and make them aware.of the pollution. On the other hand the diesel should be supplied less in those areas.

Chandigarh Administration should stick to its ban on Diesel Auto rickshaw and other vehicles, irrespective of political influence from various party leaders. At the same time Admin. Should encourage alternate option like electric vehicles Easy availability of CNG/LPG station Strengthen public transport n shifting it to green fuel. Promoting cycling. N finally ban on Diesel should not lifted at any cost because if pollution is not controlled timely we may face situation like Delhi.

Do not register new diesel vehicles, routine checkup of polluting vehicles and removal of old and depreciated diesel vehicles from the roads. Sometimes, the pollution do not occur because of vehicles, but it also requires to check pollution from commercial generators and petrol cars. Move to car pooling and ask people to use clean fuels. The use of Multifunctional additives in petrol and Diesel can lower the level of automobile pollution to a great extent and people should be encouraged to add the additives in every litre of their vehilce fuel. The use of additive not only help to minimise the automobile pollution but it enhances the power of the engine and gives 2-6% mileage benefit also. The Indian oil petrol pumps are equipped with these additives.
