Section 67 of Railway act prescribes that:-

4. If any railway servant has reason to believe that goods contained in a package are dangerous or offensive and notice as required under sub-section (2) or sub-section(3), as the case may be, in respect of such goods is not given, he may cause such package to be opened for the purpose of ascertaining its contents.

5. 6. Nothing in this section shall be constructed to derogate from the provisions of the Indian Explosives Act, 1884 (4 of 1884), or any rule or order made under that Act, and nothing in sub-sections (4) and (5) shall be constructed to apply to any goods entrusted for carriage by order or on behalf of the Government or to any goods which a soldier, sailor, airman or any other officer of the armed forces of the Union or a police officer or a member of the Territorial Army of the National cadet Corps may take with him on a railway in the course of his employment or duty as such.

However passengers tend to carry inflammable and dangerous materials like firecrackers, petroleum products, explosives etc., resulting in fire accidents and loss of human life.

Suggest solutions for reducing fire accidents due to carrying of inflammable materials by passengers.

Railway should withdraw this rule of allowing advance reservation prior to 4 months, instead it should be only 30 days in advance to avoid bogus ticket booking. This will give relief to genuine passengers. In my opinion railway ministry wants to generate extra reserve fund, they have no sympathy with the passengers.

No new trains have been announced in the Railway Budget. State Governments have been allowed to participate in infrastructure building. Why not allow the state governments to run intra-state trains? A wealthier state can afford to buy trains and run them in specific routes within their state. The ticket rates can be directly fixed by the states. The states will have to pay a usage fee to the Indian Railways. This can eventually lead to PPP and then privatisation.

The train coaches should be equipped with electronic display board showing the current station in which the train halts. This can be really helpful especially during night time.

Dear Sir make Indian railway platform, stations same as of Delhi metro in terms of cleanliness, security. Automatic fair collection gate, escalator, lift etc. at least in Delhi to start with. To make cleanliness effective i think fine is necessary. To achieve SWATCH BHART ABHIYAAN also people who litter should be punish. Try to punish people see the result of Swatch Bhart. People have become habitual to throw garbage. They will only stop if you start punishing them. Start from Metro cities. Tks

can we have train bogies in which we can drive in and park and sit in our cars itself during the journey? if trains have an option where i can just drive my car and park it inside some kind of special boggy and then drive out once i reach my destination it would be really very convenient. i know there are lot of places where i need to 1st take a train upto a certain distance and then again catch a bus for the rest of the journey.

Carrying inflammable articles during the festive season is very common in India. Hence, through checking at the entry point of each and every small stations should be made mandatory and should be carried out by RPF. Fire extinguishers should be made available in the guard compartment. Facility to pump water from the toilet tank of the compattment should also be provided
