I am seeing that the state govt as well as central is starving hard to expand Kolkata metro railways in the city. Huge funds are being alloted for the same and many hardships are being faced by the local residents of the city due to road blockages. However, we have a circular railway system in the city, which is used only during the office hours, I was thinking that whether there could be a possibility of replacing these circular railways lines with the metro trains, seems economical and faster?

Can the railways consider increasing the height of platforms? Right now trains are at a higher level than the platforms. It takes a considerable effort to climb onto the train compartments, especially for elderly people. If the level of the platform and the trains are equal, it would make boarding trains a lot easier!

You should release some percentage of tickets when booking is open before 60 days. These should go on for atleast 10 days, so that all the passengers get a chance to book in advance. Also, in mobile, you should allow the bookings from 8 to 12 noon.

It is true that several fire incidences in Railways occurred due to carrying of inflammable materials but their are other reasons including poor-maintenance of coupe and wagons. To prevent carrying of inflammable need proper awareness as well as strict check on such materials, which is not possible in present infrastructure. We are having thousands of railway stations which are not even having basic amenities. Last fare hike didn't reflect improvement in services and security concerns.

Transport departments viz., Buses, Metros, Local Trains etc., in a city should work together. There should be a single pass/ticket to travel in all the means of transport (atleast in a city). Also local mobile applications and websites need to be developed to access details, itineraries, purchase passes etc.,
