India has the world’s highest tuberculosis (TB) burden, with an estimated 28 lakh people contracting the disease every year. TB usually affects the most economically productive age group of society. The stigma attached to TB also acts as a hindrance in seeking care.

The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare is implementing an ambitious National Strategic Plan to End TB Epidemic in India. While considerable progress has been made in this direction, there are significant challenges that require community participation to address the problem statement that once addressed will expedite India’s achievement of SDG TB targets on TB.

In reference to this Central TB Division, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in collaboration with MyGov is hosting a Slogan Contest to tap the creativity of community members in developing slogans to address the problem statement:
1. 50 % of TB cases at an early stage are infections but still don’t have any symptoms. They seek care only when they become sick and develop symptoms. By this time, they would have transmitted the infection to several other people in the community. Hence there is a need for vulnerable individuals in the below-mentioned groups to screen themselves for TB even if they are healthy/asymptomatic:
a. History of TB in the last 5 years
b. Close contacts of TB patients
c. Elderly citizens (aged 60 years and above)
d. People who are undernourished
e. Current or past smokers
f. Persons with diabetes
These 6 vulnerable groups account for 80% of TB cases.

The main objectives of the slogan writing competition are to:
1. Create awareness among audience/community members about Tuberculosis.
2. Encourage the audience to creatively express their ideas on solutions to the specific problem statement mentioned above
3. To motivate participants to seek knowledge about TB and help in making India TB-free.

5. Only one slogan per candidate will be eligible
6. Entries with more than one slogan will be disqualified
