Shillong is tipped to become Smart City under ambitious program announced by Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) Government of India. Shillong is part of 100 Cities selected under Phase I.
Now Shillong enters Smart City Challenge phase where Citizens of the city will decide how to make Shillong a Smart City.
Voice your Choice and participate in Essay Competition
Shillong City Administration invites Citizens to participate in the Essay Competition for "Smart Shillong" initiative.
Technical Parameters
This essay will focus on the issues and problems faced by the residents of the city, and the likely smart solutions which can address these issues. The administration will take help from the selected entries to develop a vision statement for the city and will also define city sub goals based on it.The participants should focus on the practical, bankable & implementable ideas/solutions related to Smart City which should match the context of the city.
In this regard, we invite Citizens to take part in this Essay competition.
The competition will be in two categories:
a) For Students (10-17 year old) and
b) For Other citizens (18 and above).
The Topic for the Essay is ‘My aspirations for making Shillong a Smart city’
Content Guidelines
• What is your Vision for turning Shillong into a smart city?
• Mention 1 or 2 priority area (any specific geographical area of the city) in Shillong that needs immediate attention. (50 - 100 words)
• Identify problems and propose smart solutions for the area identified by you. (550-650 words)
• Citizen Hero – Are you ready to be a citizen Hero ? How will you be part of the solution in Shillong? (200-250 words)
How to Submit
• Language: English, Hindi
• Word Limit: 1000
• Evaluation Criteria: Do-ability (25%), creativity (25%), Solution centric (25%), universal acceptance (25%)
The top 3 essays will be awarded:
a) 1st Prize - Rs 21,000 (Twenty one Thousand Rupees only)
b) 2nd Prize - Rs 15,000 (Eleven Thousand Rupees only)
c) 3rd Prize - Rs 9000 (Nine Thousand one hundred Rupees only)
