In order to bring together the creative diversity of this country, and generate a set of exquisite products, by using Indian handloom Products, a creative crowd-sourcing competition is being launched through the MyGov platform.
In this competition, the Indian citizens/designers/entrepreneurs of this country are requested to submit their entries, based on which these interesting products can be manufactured and available for sale.
To generate awareness about the importance of the handloom industry and its contribution to the socio-economic development of the country, 7th August is celebrated every year as “National Handloom Day”.
August 7 was chosen as the National Handloom Day to commemorate the Swadeshi Movement which was launched on this day in 1905 in the Calcutta Town hall. The first National Handloom Day was inaugurated on 7th August 2015 by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at the Centenary Hall of Madras University in Chennai.
Ministry of Textiles in collaborations with MyGov is organizing a contest Design a Handloom Souvenir. For the same Indian citizens are requested to share their ideas of souvenirs designed/created by them using Indian Handlooms in the form of photograph(s) to promote and support the Handloom Sector
These souvenir products can be in the form of file covers, book covers, slip pads, pen stands, pens, card holders, mobile holders, notebooks, mobile chargers, tea and coffee mugs, and so on.

Lotus- Lotus is our national flower and also has an important significance in our culture.
Elephant- The design depicts Indian's art. The top band of the flag is saffron, symbolizing India's strength and courage.
The band white, representing peace and truth, while the bottom dark green band depicts our innate relation to the fertile land, symbolizing growth and auspiciousness.
The Ashoka Chakra is a navy blue depiction of the Dharamachakra , or "wheel of the law or wheel of time".
Here I am presenting my artwork.I have made a sling bag cum clutch bag using cotton fabric as a base fabric on which patchwork with Khana fabric & brocade fabric has done .I also have used jute rope braids, beads work on the bag. Embroidery with golden & simple thread has done on this bag. This bag is light weighted, sturdy, washable and gives stylish look. I have tried to create this art using concept of our Indian Handloom. Thank you for giving us opportunity to showcase our Art.
