Established in 1875, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) is completing 150 years of service to the nation on 15th January 2025. IMD is among the earliest government departments created specifically for systematic observation, regular reporting and scientific forecasting of weather phenomenon in the Indian subcontinent. In a way, the evolution of meteorology as a stream of modern physical science owes a lot to the contributions made by scientists and technologists who were associated with IMD during its glorious one hundred and fifty years of journey.

To commemorate our remarkable 150-year journey of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, we proudly announce IMD’s Badge Designing Contest in collaboration with MyGov. Event invites participants to showcase their creativity by crafting unique and meaningful badge designs that symbolize the essence of the India Meteorological Department. This contest aims to create a badge that reflects IMD’s core values, such as innovation, accuracy, and dedication to weather forecasting, climate monitoring, and disaster preparedness. Participants are encouraged to design visually appealing, impactful badges that resonate with IMD's mission to serve the nation.
