The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has been mandated by the TRAI Act, 1997 to regulate the tariffs offered by the Telecom Service Providers for its various services. Despite the amendments made to the TTO and other regulations issued by TRAI to factor in various market developments, a need has been felt to undertake a comprehensive review of the TTO framework, albeit in a phased manner, starting with a discussion on the core regulatory principles enshrined in the TTO, Directions and Advisories issued by TRAI on various aspects of the tariff framework from time to time.

In order to identify and address the various emergent issues and challenges, inter-alia, related to regulatory principles of tariff assessment e.g. transparency, promotional offers, disclosures and non discrimination, adherence to the principle of non-predatory pricing, meaning of predatory pricing, relevant market, assessment of dominant position etc., Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released Consultation Paper on ‘Regulatory Principles of Tariff Assessment’ on 17th February, 2017 to solicit comments from the stakeholders.

The objective of this Consultation Paper (CP) is to bring about greater clarity in interpretation of various regulatory principles set out in the TTO in consonance with the best global practices.

Click here to read the consultation paper. The written comments on the issues raised in the consultation paper are invited from the stakeholders by 17th March, 2017.

I feel for making India companies having turnover of 100-200 Cr should be given preference for the progress as these companies will generate more employment in production, marketing and other infrastructure.these worker will spred by word of mouth the implementation and positive step of government to other people or public while big companies will not be able to generate more employment rather will certainly goes with same numbers of people as per there existing infrastructure to increase profit

I want to suggest some guidelines as myself being partner in the telecommunications sector as a distributor and retailer 1.Tariff plans has gone low due to competition in the industry So it has maintain monetary terms or fixed slabs has to be maintained by regulatory body to overcome the said issue 2.Due to zero tariff introduced by Jio almost industry has suffered huge amount of loss So no free packs has to be permitted in order to safe guard the interest of industry
