During my visit to London, came across the attached variant of a dustbin used extensively here in London at railway stations, bus stands, on road sides. Clearly visible, space and maintenance friendly, and economical. Worth replicating in Indian cities as well, to start with at railway stations.

How about installation of dustbin at every 100 meters on roads there is a severe scarcity of dustbins on road so commuters tend to throw plastic bags and all kinds of garbage on the road itself making the city dirty.

2. Television advertisements on impact of plastic bags and pouches (similar to that are run for toliets) should be made and run on national televisions. Awareness about the impact due to irresponsible usage of plastic has to be ighlighted. It should highlight problem is not actually plastic, but the way we use plastic which is the problem

For example, a poster asking the passenger to keep the empty snack pouches/bags till they alight the train, and drop it into the waste bins placed in the stations should help. This also means that waste bins are placed at strategic places inside the platforms like near the stair cases, before posters are placed in the compartements. This could be done as a pilot project in one of the lines in Mumbai, and effectiveness should be measured.

In this regard I feel that there is a need to highlight this aspect of treating wastage responsibly as well as help passenger to dispose the waste resposnsibly. My suggestions are : 1. Railway stations and trains should have highly visible and innovative advertisements highlighthing this problem.

I am a resident of Mumbai, and travel by local train. One can see the sides on the railway lines are littered with plastic bags and pouches used for packaging snacks etc. If the citizen expects that railway should pick every waste that they throw out of the window of train or their home, they are being irresponsible. However I also feel that there should be a way to train citizens to behave in a responsible manner.

Respected Sir Subject- MoU with Sweden (European Country) You are visiting many countries for development of India. I insist you to visit Sweden and see how they have reduced their waste to less than 1%. Their waste management technique is quite different as compared to many developed countries. I know your gov. in Gujrat have done a lot for this problem by installing many Gobar Banks, etc. If we are talking about Clean India than I am very much sure that Sweden gov. can do a lot for India.

Dear Sir, if we really want to have clean india we need to put a complete ban on the use of plastic bags . Plastic bags are not only polluting land but it is also very deadly for the stray animals mostly in the urban areas. Plz make shure that the production and use of the plastic bags should be completely banned.

It depends on the principle that if individual is done with their own duty, in particular religiously being aware of issue then half the work is done so I think this is what lagging now ..ignoring being known the severity
