The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry initiated the process of formulation of a new Industrial Policy in May 2017. Since the last Industrial Policy announced in 1991, India has transformed into one of the fastest growing economies in the world. With strong macro-economic fundamentals and several path breaking reforms in the last three years, India is equipped to deploy a different set of ideas and strategies to build a globally competitive Indian industry. The new Industrial Policy will subsume the National Manufacturing Policy.

A consultative approach has been taken for industrial policy formulation wherein six thematic focus groups and an online survey on DIPP website have been used to obtain inputs. Focus groups, with members from government departments, industry associations, academia, and think tanks have been setup to delve deep into challenges faced by the industry in specific areas. The six thematic areas include Manufacturing and MSME; Technology and Innovation; Ease of Doing Business; Infrastructure, Investment, Trade and Fiscal policy; and Skills and employability for the future. A Task Force on Artificial Intelligence for India’s Economic Transformation has also been constituted which will provide inputs for the policy.

It is proposed that the new Industrial Policy will aim at making India a manufacturing hub by promoting ‘Make in India’. It will also suitably incorporate the use of modern smart technologies such as IOT, artificial intelligence and robotics for advanced manufacturing.

Hon’ble Minister of State(i/c) for Commerce & Industry Smt Nirmala Sitharaman will hold consultations with stakeholders, including industry captains, think tanks and State governments in Chennai, Guwahati and Mumbai. The Industrial Policy is likely to be announced in October 2017.

DIPP invites comments, feedback, suggestions from the public regarding framing of the new Policy.

The last date of submission of suggestions is 25th September, 2017.

In our country the corporate system failed as it's contribution is very low rather than any sector. Corporate system become NPA sof public &private banks and so far since nationlisatio of banks they have availed loans from banks in lakhs of crores of rupees and avoided paying back the public money with their cunning ideas .whereas cooperative sector like Anand IFFCOetc become successive with the participants in management in huge by its members involved where as in corporate a minimum no.

Our industrial policy should encourage innovation research and patent trademark rights.my suggestion of angle of this encouragement via tax laws that is GST and corporate or incometax. The value of imports includes IP cost of imported product.Even if is paid lumpsum by importer cost includes purchase and royalty paid or payable as lumpsum as per quantities imported.Whereas Govt should monitor GST collected on Imports It should exempt from GST on Indian IPRs willpromoteregistration of IPRs India.

Make policy "a week" to approval like N.A.,GEB,PWD,POLLUTION,REVENUE DEPARTMENT ETC. to start industry Government officer /employees should be co operation with people ask for any permission. They are always looking how to reject application , not co operat with applicant for helping to approval. My personal experience to start my very small factory all permission to approval take 1.5 years. I heard somewhere in China it takes just a week to start your factory without any corruption.

Dear Sir, Apart from crafting new industrial policies which are conducive for industrial development and employment generation we also need to look create conducive framework and nodal agencies at Central and State government's level to ensure hand holding and resolve problems faced by entrepreneurs in land acquisition and getting necessary license. Please refer the attached file for problems we are facing in implementation of project for last 2 years.

All the policies of the government are for new units or start ups, the government should also look into the problems faced by the existing units which are providing employment at present. It's good to plan future but our present should also be managed more efficiently. #DIPP #MyGov

Clean India: Stop damaging #rivers. An Industry may not have unit to clean its own wastes but an industrial hub or IT hub can have. Impose such rules for all IT and Industrial parks to reuse/ process it. Subsidize #CleanIndia industries Decentralization: Start industries or IT parks in each states, provide such an #infrastructure, so people will not #migrate to other states and neither will major cities will overflow, like #Bangalore #Mumbai has become today with #traffic and #drainage.

my suggestion is there should be one window for the new start up business people. for EXample -if somebody wants to open food manufacturing they should get all licenses from one window only.it can be very great start up for new business people.Right Now there is lots of hurdles for this. the window should be monitored by CCTV so there should be no corruption and there should be a certain time frame to issue the licenses ,so people can proceed fast towards there business.and goals support marketi
