Namami Tate Is a campaign brought to you by the Ministry of Earth Sciences in collaboration with the Government of India. This campaign is part of the Government of India’s 75 week celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mohotsav. Through Namami Tate, we are targeting cleaning of some of the dirtiest beaches of India with the help of the Government as well as fellow citizens. Beaches play a fundamental role in maintaining the health of the oceans and also provide habitat to a number of marine species.

However, last year, a group of researchers from ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE) found that the north-east Arabian Sea, just off Mumbai, contained an estimated 379 MT of marine debris of which plastics contributed to 40.6% of the total by weight. A major portion of this debris washes up on the beaches creating health, environmental, economic as well as social hazards. The fast-paced growth of the tourism sector combined with the lack of awareness on the part of citizens about the damaging impact of pollution is one of the leading causes of the abysmal condition of our beaches. The Namami Tate campaign aims to clean these beaches and protect our precious marine biodiversity.

The Ministry of Earth Sciences invites suggestions from the citizens of India about the innovative ways in which we can conduct this beach cleaning activity. We value your suggestions which would be instrumental in implementing this campaign.

The best entries from the citizens will be identified by the Ministry and will be featured on the MyGov page.

The last date to receive suggestions is 15th August 2022.

Is smoking allowed in public parks? If not, what does it take to curb this practice with immediate effect? On this special occasion, as the Nation celebrates Azadi Ka Mahotsav, let’s do this noble deed - take harshest measures to stop it - at least for the well being of the hapless children and women, who are being subjected to passive smoking!

We must launch a campaign to clean the beach. CCTV cameras must be placed on beaches so that those people are polluting the beach must be caught and they must be punished. Restrictions must be followed to prevent beach from polluting. Jail and fine can also be kept for those people who are polluting the beach.

Now a days, people's are eating the foodstuffs on beaches and they are throwing their litter on beach. Because of this our beach is not cleaned properly. Behind this plastic and other things that are thrown on beach must be banned 🚫 so that people can't take those things on beach. It will prevent the beach from polluting.

For cleaning beach all the citizens of our country must be acknowledged about the importance of beaches and the disadvantages of making It dirty. We are the coming generations of our country so we must keep our country clean and green. It is not only helpful for us but also it will help us to protect our mother earth.

I think conducting the beach cleaning as an activity game will help in extensive public participation. It will help in making this tedious activity fun filled. Participants will become more enthusiastic and energetic because of its competitive nature. Total participants can be divided into different groups consisting of equal number of people and each group can be given a specifically allotted area of beach for cleaning. Then the winner group can be determined by assessing the time taken to clean the pre-allotted beach area completely. Winners can be awarded with a certificate or a small token of appreciation whichever is more convenient. Rules and regulations can also be made for the game according to the requirement for fulfilling the ultimate objective/goal.

By picking up our own trash. It is astonishing that people continue to leave their trash behind. With large crowds coming to the beach, do your part by making sure you collect all of your trash before you leave.
