The Government of India is taking several measures for promoting the growth of the manufacturing sector in India. The Make In India campaign has been initiated with the view of driving investment in this sector by creating an environment suitable for sustained growth of manufacturing, which will lead to all-round economic benefits including employment generation and income growth. The Prime Minister’s Independence Day speech mentioning this can be seen here and his speech at the launch of the Make In India campaign can be seen here.

This requires a number of steps to be taken to ensure that investors are suitably incentivized for job-creation as well as participating in the skill upgradation of the labour force employed by them.

Suggestions received from various Ministries and other stakeholders during Government-level discussions in this regard can be seen here. These suggestions include financial incentives under the Income Tax Act, labour laws, tax incentives and subsidies for skilling of employees, upgrading and improving the employment exchanges, etc.

We invite comments regarding these ideas and suggestions regarding other incentives that can be provided by the government for employment generation in the manufacturing sector. Your suggestions may be provided in the comment box below or attached as a PDF. We request that the suggestions may be explained in sufficient detail with information about the implementation mechanism and the likely impact.

The last date for submission of the entries is 2nd December, 2015.

cont. GAAR needs to be implimented as urgently as possible in its original form as non implimentation of GAAR leads to increase burden on SMEs as MNCs book their loss in India and profits in tax heavens. so tax burden falls on local business who collapse. Kindly see attached book by an investigative reporter on how non implimantation of GAAR is harmful as it will distroy majority of Indian SMEs and smart ones will change their domicile from India to abroad as shown in book.

cont. free trade agreement are boon to local SMEs as large companies source from abroad so in turn it creates unemployment and inverse duty structure in these agreement has created a disaster. FTAs should be signed for benifit of large section of society not a handful of people.

Subsidize the most reputed universities to promote incentivized R&D projects for its students. Propagate the technology through industry-university partnerships thus improving quality of mainstream indigenous manufacturing. This will lead to increased demand for indigenous products encouraging higher homegrown production/investment and result in a massive boost to the manufacturing sector.

We should make a Industrial education development program so that youth can acquire professional skill with knowledge imparted in educational institutions. Pm, Mudra yojna is an appreciative step but provisions should be made that awareness about the same can created among youth leading to creation of new entrepreneurs. A provision of students and employees exchange program should be made between industry and educational institutions.

PM MUDRA Yojna / MUDRA Bank can be a "GAME CHANGER" in this field however it has been observed that not many are still aware about it! A massive mass movement like we saw is "JAN DHAN YOJNA" is need, if all present MLA's/MP's & Potential MLA's/MP's of NDA can ensure awareness about MUDRA Bank in their constituencies then in next 365 days we can cover a lot of ground and by 2018 visible results in employment numbers can be seen

First of all be clear that investment never increases employment. Investment happens only when investor sees profits. Employment generation is possible only and only by small and micro industries. Stop FDI and cheap imports. Stop doing FTA with other countries as they are benefitted and not India. They want 100 cr people market and we give them without negotiating anything in our favour!!! Indian Gov't never see benefits of people!! There has to be decentralized economy for bright future

There's a gap between academics and industries things don't become reality.for example build a team from colleges and industrial houses to build an electrically charged two wheeler declare a big price money to both industry and students. This will help in start ups for various items selected by govt to save on imports
