Rain water harvesting in all homes(individual and apartments)
No plastic zone
Care for the environment and the abundance of trees. Currently old(50-60 year) trees are being cut for widening of roads, but that is not helping the situation. Public transportation should be improved, developing metros, overbridges etc.
Usage of bicycles should be encouraged, before the situation worsens.
Sewerage disposal and solid waste management systems
Promotion of renewable energy and tourism

The followings may be few suggestive measures for a smart and clean city: 1. Street washing before sweeping; 2. Use Bio-disposers to dispose kitchen / bio-degradable waste directly to sewer network. 3. Areas without sewer network may be provided with Bio-digesters for tackling bio-degradable waste. 4. Manage all type of Solid Waste separately without co-mingling for efficient reuse / recycling. & 5. Prefer to provide decentralised sanitation facilities, community managed & self sustainable.

Smart city in Bhubaneswar should cover the following aspects:
1.Tapping the local resource for establishment of innovative economic cluster .
2.Better Application of e governance in city management system.(e.g use of photo based mobile application to report suggestion/grievances related to civic amenities .e.g NDMC and Rajkot )
3.People friendly .(We have roads for the car but lack of footpaths for the people to walk.)

I would like to see an expanded Bhubaneswar as a top destinations for the MNCs. Along with that a heavy plantation drive to prevent climate change. Must encourage start-ups, use of renewable energy. Promote tourism in a large scale. Improved transport facilities, roads, infrastructure and educational institutions with quality and skilled eduactors. Make Bhubaneswar a brand name like Bangalore n Mumbai are having. Advertise in a large scale the resources, capability & strength we r having.

Smart is basically preemptive.
SmartBBSR should allow free access, over wi-fi, to a interactive web site, that will talk to me and guide me for my next move.
Example : I get down at BBSR Railway station. A welcome msg should appear on my digital device, say phone, giving me an url. The msg should be customised, depending whether I am first timer or coming to bbsr after long time gap or a resident bbsrian. On this url, say, i should see when do i get next city bus for AIIMS, Patrapada.

In Smart Cities, digital technologies translate into better public services for citizens, better use of resources and less impact on the environment.
ICT infrastructure of the smart city must be logically connected to each other like Information and communication, Mobility, Energy, Public safety, Transport, Health, Governmental Administration, Living, Culture & Education in order to exchange and use data about status, demands and capacities.
