The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica.  Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP.  For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure   a higher percentage in the GDP.

Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower.  Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

It should be given to the private sector who has got more experience in governing the corporate sector. Also the experience of the Government in this area is very limited.

Why can't we produce electricity using sea waves.A machine able to exploit wave power must be created. Though there are certain challenges taking due precaution we can overcome power deficit substantially. Jai Hind

It should be undertaken by Private Sector, as they are well aware about existing training needs as well as advance technology to be adopted in nearer future. However, Government should be in the form of facilitator.

I have seen in Talcher-Angul mining area Coal India Ltd / private companies are facing enormous problems to give jobs to land losers ( who lose their land due to mining activity) because none of them is skilled. Skill imparting by government has failed so far because jobs are not assured in government sector in this era of privatisation when the latter can link productivity and profit to skill development..So the private sectors should be invited to this field.

Shortcomings of TECHNICAL EDUCATION particularly for B.Tech. of UPTU. I had been in teaching since July 1966 (at IIT, Kharagpur for one year) & in Uttar Pradesh since July 1967. UP Technical Univ., Lucknow, was formed in 2000 and the self-financing institutes wish ensure that maximum students can be admitted and these students pass out quickly, ultimately resulted in loss of quality of their product. The probable cause, to by mind may at AICTE or UPTU.This is also true for MBA and MBBS.

Even I did training to gram panchayat on Total Sanitation Compaign, even there the attendance of members are very less, they never show interest in knowing projects... there are again duplication, documentation, false reports... what to say... I worked all most all fields, always thinking about India's situation and even though i have some solutions who listens me???
