In the latest episode of Mann Ki Baat on 27th September 2020, Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi spoke about the art of storytelling. He mentioned that the history of stories is as ancient as the human civilization itself. ‘Where there is a soul, there is a story’.

As we are going to celebrate 75 years of independence, Prime Minister urged storytellers across the Nation to share stories of many inspiring events during the entire period of our enslavement. Especially, from 1857 to 1947, stories around every major or minor incident during this period can be introduced to our new generation.

“May this art of storytelling become stronger in the country, become more popularized and easier to imbibe - this is something we must all strive for”: PM Narendra Modi

Do you know of any inspiring event during the 1857-1947 freedom struggle that isn’t so well known? Maybe a long-forgotten hero who did not get as much prominence as he/she deserved? Maybe an incident which played a minor but important role in our struggle? A story you might have heard from a family elder, many years ago?

Tell us, we will feature your story for all Indians!

Share your story in the form of a video, audio clip, picture or essay.

Potti Sreeramulu: A devout Gandhian, Potti Sreeramulu is among the many unsung heroes of India's freedom struggle. He died during the hunger strike, demanding a separate Andhra state to be carved out of the Madras Presidency. Sreeramulu dedicated his life to the motherland and Dalit community.

I am hereby elaborating the story of Unsung Freedom Fighter Shri . Anant Kshirsagar (Muni Guru) my maternal Grand Father from Akola (MH). During his tenure of Freedom Struggle he worked in close association with Bhagat Singhji, Chandrashekhar Azadji and Rajguruji. He also played a pivotal role in derailing Army Train of British Soldiers. Finally he confessed to Mahatma Gandhiji and walked on path of Truth and non violence and served the nation as Principal and later Incharge Principal
