If river is polluted with industrial wastes, there is a natural way to remove toxic metals from it.It is possible to use certain plant species to absorb them. Scientists call this ability to suck harmful metals from soil and water as"hyperaccumulation".Species belonging tofamilies like Poaceae, Asteraceae, Flacourtiaceae, Euphobiaceae, Caryophyllaceae, Fabaceae and Brassicacea simply suckup metals like nickel, zinc and lead.

Our skin secretes a water soluble substance. Rubbing our body with a towel while bathing cleans the skin. We do not need soap. Using soap should be where dirt does not get removed. Just imaging the amount of reduction in pollution this would result in.

Floods are the most expensive type of natural disaster in India. Govt spends lot of money each year in flood rehabilitation and relief work. Instead it should divert its focus and assets on flood prevention measures like increasing vegetation along river banks, building detention basin/ponds to hold extra water during times of flooding. Also, construction of massive system of diversions, dikes, and floodways is need of the hour. It will be a one time investment and will save huge govt. expenses

in my opinion , about 5 km on either side of any river should be left undisturbed as this stretch of land contains huge biodiversity. Hence, all those river front projects needs to be relooked. we should save forest land on either side of rivers and limit human activities this shall also reduce casual garbage disposal into the rivers
