One of the key reasons why India lacks in research is paucity of properly working equipments and chemicals. At least 10 colleges in each field need to be identified where such paucity is not an issue. Equipments are properly maintained and right chemicals identified and purchased. At least for these 10 institutions industry leaders should give projects relevant for industry and top scientists should give projects on basic sciences.

Research is a work which has no time limit. The recent announcement of scholarship by the finance department of India is really shocking to the researchers. The surprising fact is that those who have M.Tech or equivalent degree will get scholarship of 4years and b.tech and equivalent of 5 years. Sir, is this the way to discriminate researchers who share the same platform and do more or less the same work? We will be happy if the time limit for scholarship is made same for all.

India is making a generation of students (even though vastly talented with an incredible potential) who might not really understand their subjects but are merely good at taking examinations. We are teaching students how to solve questions and not problems. We know which “type” of questions would most likely appear in the examination but we have no idea why the subject is actually important.

sir,for research and development youth must crack various research oriented exams e.g.-NET,GATE etc.To get chance in research they have to qualify these competitive exams. But for the students from science background of northbengal they have near center choices like Gauhati,Kolkata. It is very difficult for them to go their exam centers which is far away from their hometown though they are very talented. If one center will Siliguri then many students will be benifitted and can sit for NET.
