Conventional education alone cannot meet the needs and aspiration of higher education. What proactive policies and strategies need to be devised and developed to encourage online education and overcome any implementation issues which are currently hindering its optimization? Also how can we strengthen ODL systems so as to ensure their quality and gain greater acceptability?

Please Consider AMIE under AICTE, Don't Consider IEI as Distance education. This is the one and only Institution in India for Engineering with ROYAL CHARTER INCORPORATION. The Universities / Institution all over the World with Royal Charter Incorporation are having a fees structure of 5-10 Lakhs per Annum but the IEI is just providing the support for the student to become a Chartered Engineer only by Hard Working. The AICTE has to distinguish its efforts.

Executive Council of Burdwan University have unfortunately declared that no student having obtained M.A. Degree through Distance Education Mode would be allowed to apply for pursuing Ph.D. Degree from session 2015-2017. No University, other than Burdwan University, has taken such anti-student stand. In our opinion, the decision of Burdwan University is not only anti-student but also against the policy of University Grants Commission.

Distance and Online education should be promoted in more structured manner. This system needs to include more n more people to work and learn together. As per current policy--if a student ventures out to earn (territorial jurisdiction)--would need to discontinue studies. Today the education authorities by creating boundries are restricting this mode of education and playing with the Life and Right to Education of these students. Please need to create new policy as very soon.

The importance of ODL is very important to the knowledge spreading and education system but few Universities like Dibrugarh University , Assam ( Director of Distance Learning ) have problems in Administrative level. That should be solved by the UGC or DEB ..

Sir, society examinations like section-A and section-B of IEI or IETE should not be compared with distance education courses. persons who passed these examinations are working in almost all leading organisation of government sector as well as public sector. Now a days most of the psu's are not allowing them to appear in their recruitment. this is not fair and seems as injustice to talented poor students.

World over ODL is the most sought after form of education, as it gives the flexibility of timimg, course and location. Maintenance of standards and improvising it is a constant process: so as to meet the requirements of job industry. It is a convenient mode to upgrade the skill. Student's pursuing get an added advantage of selection of course and institution of their choice. Premium institutions(like IIM's) in India are also offering such programmes.
