The objective of the Group is to brainstorm and invite considered views of all stakeholders in Chemicals & Petrochemical sector that include polymers, plastics, synthetic rubber basic Chemicals, pesticide, dyes etc. The sector is touching the lives of each and every member of the society. This sector has tremendous potential of growth vis a vis the contribution of this sector in the world economy, especially in the manufacturing sector in developed countries. The sector also offers employment opportunities for a large population.

As the sector is already liberalized, which has also resulted in a rapid increase in imports, there is a need to review this situation and to promote domestic manufacturing by attracting large investments and providing facilitative policy regime. At the same time, sustainability and environment friendliness of the industries in this sector also has to be ensured as an initiative as part of ‘MAKE IN INDIA’ campaign of the new government.

Comments and views are invited from the stakeholder at large.

Make in India is possible only when we make import costlier and infrastructure, technology, labours cheap. In fact production of any commodity on mass scale make production cost low. We should study how china is able to sale its electronic product on cheap cost and then a policy to counter it should be made. China is able to sale low end to high end products thus full filling all type of demand. It should be noticed that foreign countries help and make due, undue pressure to other country by

Occupational Safety laws and process safety management system should be enacted to prevent Bhopals which has these failures. India is focusing on engineering not safety. countries like UAE OMAN Qatar US UK all have occupational safety laws to prevent disasters and safety failures

Modi Ji Welcoming FDI india is great but there is a need to focus on Occupational Safety and pollution control I m basically a OSH professional in middle east. There are 1000 tons of toxic waste lying in the Union carbide plant in Bhopal. The chemicals sweep through the soil and polluted the ground water. People are drinking this water. There is nothing wrong in Seeking the help of international experts to remove or clean .these chemicals.Consider this as a New Year decision

contd.. Make in India products gets good response if our manufacturing units follows these norms. Companies who follow these norms and utilize the industries waste water and other dangerous chemical emissions in proper way shall be given good credit rating, rebates in excise duties. They have to maintain the environment clean and green, whether it is SME units. This way not only we keep our surrounding clean, the areas which has not been explored and developed will be mapped globally

chemicals and petrochemical industry plays important role in our day today life and economic growth of country. Before we discuss about the growth, govt. has to keep certain EHS ( eNVIRONMENT HEALTH AND SAFETY MAJOR) as top priority. Today if we talks about clean, green , healthy, water management India, clean Ganga and Make in India. We need to to proper geographical survey and find out the locations in India which maintain quit good distance from city, village, towns, river etc for mfg. setup.

Focus must be on Natural Chemicals 1. Derive less harmful chemicals or purely Eco-friendly or nature derived chemicals, we can use natural compounds that is plant extracts which contain amino acids, ethyl ester since these are widely used in India. 2. For polymers, too we must research if there are any natural polymers which can be processed efficiently & if an eco-friendly polymer can be formed. 3. Basic chemicals can be extracted easily from nature, just we need is to research & study on it.
