We are living in a dynamic knowledge based society. Newer technologies and challenges are seeing the birth of new areas of study. Our higher education institutions must identify the new domains of knowledge in the global scenario and build up their capacities to meet this need. How can we retain our soft power in the global comity of nations?

India is rich in music and dance - classical and folk; language - classical, tribal, contemporary; culinary art and community-special gourmet dishes, traditional crafts and many such non-core areas. Set up small, specialised units and invite artisans and artists to come and share their knowledge and skill with students from a quasi-academic platform like Kalakshetra. This can be done even at a village-level or as rural universities. Using MOOC platform, these courses can be offered to the world.
