To address the growing concerns in the present Accreditation and Ranking systems of the Government of India had constituted a High-Level Committee. This Committee considered the introduction of strategic reforms consistent with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020 and the need for adopting a simple, trust-based, objective and rationalized system for approval, accreditation and ranking of Higher Educational Institutions with a verifiable and secured centralised database through technology-driven modern systems. Methodologies for facilitating Ease of Doing Business for the stakeholders, duly facilitating students in making more informed choices for selection of institutions/ programmes were also considered by the Committee.

After a series of deliberations, a High-Level Committee has submitted its draft Report on ‘Transformative Reforms for Strengthening Periodic Assessment and Accreditation of All Higher Educational Institutions in India’ to the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India.

In light of this, MyGov, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, seeks feedback and suggestions from all the stakeholders for the finalisation of the report.

This report has now been placed in the public domain until June 22, 2023.

The government can also rank based on the current status of those who have graduated from higher education institutions. Like Driving License & Electrical License, those who have graduated from other higher education institutes also have to confirm their presence in the field of their graduation once in a while. The life span of degrees awarded by universities and higher education institutions should be set at 15 years.Should be renewed at the end of life. For those at work and entrepreneurs Understand the need for a degree. Creating a public platform for issuing licenses will facilitate the govt to rate higher education institutions.Estimates can be made of the number of graduates in institutions of higher learning in one year & the number of people renewing their degrees after 15 years.if the govt takes even this one aspect as a factor for ranking, it will be good for the govt & students. Institutions of higher education will also create an opportunity to change their curriculum

By including a comprehensive set of evaluation criteria, the accreditation process can provide a more holistic assessment of an institution's overall performance and impact. This approach goes beyond solely focusing on quantitative metrics like research publications or infrastructure, and considers qualitative factors like teaching quality and community involvement. Additionally, the evaluation framework could incorporate self-assessment mechanisms. Institutions could be encouraged to conduct periodic self-assessments, evaluating their own strengths, weaknesses, and progress towards meeting their stated objectives. This self-assessment could be supported by clear guidelines and templates provided by the accreditation body, ensuring consistency and standardization across institutions.
