To address the growing concerns in the present Accreditation and Ranking systems of the Government of India had constituted a High-Level Committee. This Committee considered the introduction of strategic reforms consistent with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020 and the need for adopting a simple, trust-based, objective and rationalized system for approval, accreditation and ranking of Higher Educational Institutions with a verifiable and secured centralised database through technology-driven modern systems. Methodologies for facilitating Ease of Doing Business for the stakeholders, duly facilitating students in making more informed choices for selection of institutions/ programmes were also considered by the Committee.

After a series of deliberations, a High-Level Committee has submitted its draft Report on ‘Transformative Reforms for Strengthening Periodic Assessment and Accreditation of All Higher Educational Institutions in India’ to the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India.

In light of this, MyGov, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, seeks feedback and suggestions from all the stakeholders for the finalisation of the report.

This report has now been placed in the public domain until August 15, 2023.

To make aggrediation process very open and in a genuine way, we should involve the stack holders. There feedbacks and participation to decide the parameters , standards and rubrics for the institutions to give the rank will be very helpful. Students involvement by online portal will help institutions to upgrade rank.

In continuation to my previous suggestion, See there are 766 districts and 640930 villages in our country. These higher education institutions should be equally & uniformly distributed so that, they should be easily accessible for all the students in each & every district & villages of our country. If we do not have enough money to establish such institutions everywhere, we can have online higher degree courses from IITs & IIMs accessible @ affordable prices to all the students of nook & corner of our country. At last but not the least, on an overall, a youth doing a higher studies must be Highly knowledgeable & should be able to either get higher package or start a startup & thereby provide jobs to 10 - 25 persons. Finally, Education is an essential service. It should not be a market where you sell maa Saraswathi. Likewise there are many such factors which are service oriented but have been made as business market. Another example of such is health sector. I conclude my suggestion here

In continuation to my previous suggestion, See the more you read the salary you get should be higher. This standard should be maintained in the market. Now, the second step, there are many educational institutions grown like mushrooms in our metropolitan cities. Many of them are of Corrupt politicians, bureaucrats, Businessmen and other ruthless people. These are money oriented. They want to make money & business out of it. This should change. IIT, IIMs level should be made as standard & all the institutions should be brought to that level. Now then, there are some foreign universities, especially in US which do not have the standard that of IIM or IIT but still ranked higher than them in so called QS World rankings. This is pure business & this should be checked. Many US institutions are seen as Visas for permanent residency in U.S. & therefore youth of our country are attracted towards them even though our institutions have more quality than them. This should be checked.

My suggestion is, see basically what we are doing while accrediting an institution is, we are seeing the externalities. We are not seeing the internalities. We are not seeing the outcome of the quality of education rather than we are focusing more on the infrastructure of the institutions. Also, we have to produce job makers not job seekers. If we want to improve higher education then we have to keep an optimal fees structure affordable by every class of the society. The process of system should be convenient. See, I will tell you what happens. If a youth does graduate & gets placed in a company or if the same youth does post graduate & gets placed in a company, both the salaries will be more or less the same. That’s why many people does not tend to do higher education. This should change. That is the first step.
