Swami Vivekananda's Birthday on January 12 is always celebrated as National Youth Day. It is celebrated to commemorate the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, maker of the modern India. It was first declared by the Government of India in the year 1984 to celebrate the birthday of Swami Vivekananda as the National Youth Day. Since then (1985), it is started celebrating as the National Youth Day all over the country.

To undertake activities by the youth on National Youth Day, it has been decided to invite suggestions from youth to indicate the activities which can be undertaken on that day.

Last date to submit your suggestions is 15th November, 2016

A group discussion on how to improve primary education....one step forward...how to make coeporation or government schools effeftive medium of education and how to stop industrialisation of education.

1. A TV Series on the life and works of Swami Vivekananda can be launched on Doordarshan. 2. Interfaith dialogue and seminar on national/ international level can be organised in any city of religious significance like Varanasi, Bodh Gaya, Ajmer, Vailankanni (Tamil Nadu), Sarnath etc. 3. Organizing National Sports Campaign aimed at increasing the number of medals in Toly Olympics, 2020. Such campaign be named after Swami Vivekananda. #NATIONALYOUTHDAY #MYGOV #SPORTYINDIA #VIVEKANANDA #SPORTS

Suggestion continued : in all news papers on 12 January,2017 as part of Celebration of National Youth Day 11.Support to organise Inter Fath dialogue on Character Building & Man Making Education System in India.12. Address to the Nation by Prime Minister of India on the Significance of Celebration of National Youth Day in India.13. Support to all States and UTs by Govt. of India for Celebration of National Youth Day in 2017.

Suggestions continued:6.Distribution of Flowers and Fruits to Poor Patients in Hospitals and Primary Health Centres.7.Organise Health and Nutrition Awareness Camps in selected villages and slum settings in all States and UTs. 8. Support to Organise Swami Vivekananda Swimming Competitions in schools,colleges and clubs. 9.Give adequate time slots to TV to share Life and Messages of Swami Vivekananda through Group discussions amongst Youth.10.Special Page on Life and Messages of Swami Vivekananda

Further activities suggested:1.Launching of Swami Vivekananda Football Tournament in schools and collages.2.Health and Nutrition Check-up Camps in schools and collages.3.Organise workshops/seminars on "Skill Development on the lines of Swami Vivekananda"in Skill Development Institutions in all states.4.Painting Competitions on the Life and Messages of Swami Vivekananda.5.Support to Group Housing Socities in all states in the country to organise Debate on the Life and Medssage of Swami Vivekanand

on the ocassion of national youth day. respected prime minister sir should address the youth of the country through maan ki baat and tell youths them contribution of swami vivekananda to our country.the young generation should know their thinking and love towards the country. the youth should be inspired to do something for the country.feeling of respect for country should be encalcate in young generation of country

With a view to reaching life- giving message of Swami Vivekananda to a wider circle of our people in the country, Ministry of Human Development and Youth Affairs may wish to consider the following activities as part of Celebration of National Youth Day on Thrusday,12 January,2017:1.Publication of Abridged Version OF "The Complete works of Swami Vivekananda" as Subsidized Edition in Hindi,English and a few other Regional Languages as deemed fit by the Govt.for wide circulation to Youth
