Upgrading port infrastructure and buildings more major ports can be used to increase demand for steel both directly and indirectly.
Introducing courses in skill India which increase demand for steel made capital goods, example sewing machine is a capital good.
Packaging and good processing involves machines made of steel, therefore more attention to this sector.
Mechanisation of mining sector. As labourers work hard and also there is constant risk of accidents, automation of mining sector.

A major solution to the problem ppl of India facing after demonetisation. Issue every account holder a debit card & issue EFTPOS machine at every point of sale ( shopkeeper)...make it compulosry for both parties.further there will b no need to carry any cash & there is b no scope for shopkpr to run away from tax etc. This methodology already in practice. I been through it while my stay at Australia..lots of benefit for long run...an idea. Prashant K Ranjan

Steel demand in a country is governed policies adopted by government. Infrastructure, national highways, electricity distribution, smart cities, and finally GDP growth projectile play havoc. Rebar/structure for construction sector....automobile grade steel...high carbon wires for electric poles and railway sleepers....tyres beads quality wires...high manganese steel for towers for high voltage power distribution etc. need to be exploited. Chinese imports of finished as well semis to be curbeed

We can make such fighter aircrafts(indigenously) those can take off without any runways with the use of hot gases (or with other available options) those can make it fly without runways. These gases when heated and used as propellant to fly it above the ground like helicopter. Benefits of such aircrafts is that we can land these aircrafts any where, like on mountains, ships or at other places where we do not have runways. Enemies will also not get any remaining in the image.......

More steel could be consumed if material of construction is Structural Steel for various buildings like residential, commercial and industrial. It is observed that there are limitations in the present engineering curriculum, Manufacture of steel products and in construction practice. The overall cost of Steel Structures are more than the concrete structures, which is the main reason for less preference and hence less consumption of structural steel. The attachment gives a review and suggestions.

The steel demand can be increased by improving R&D on usage of steel in various engineering applications for which we import steel many times. Immediate action can be to facilitate indigenous usage by ship building industry. This industry can consume huge amount of steel. Here we see bulb bars are imported as the ones manf by indigenous sources are not affordable. Govt should reduce tax and ship building industry to florish. This industry consumes huge amounts of steel and provide lots of jobs

The One way out of this situation for rising steel demand is to do a deep market research, perform surveys, suggest a feasible alternative method(not to steel, but to the main task which needs steel). Also we need to engineer steel fabrication which will also effectively reduce steel usage and provide the equivalent strength.
