Under Section 3 (3) of the Electricity Act, 2003, the Central Government may, from time to time, in consultation with the State Governments and the Central Electricity Authority, review or revise, the National Electricity Policy. In compliance of section 3 of the Electricity Act 2003, the Government of India had notified the National Electricity Policy on 12th February 2005.

2. According to Section 66 of the Electricity Act “the Appropriate Commission shall endeavor to promote the development of a market (including trading) in power in such manner as may be specified and shall be guided by the National Electricity Policy”.

3. The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) and State Electricity Regulatory Commissions (SERCs), in the discharge of their functions, shall be guided by the National Electricity Policy under Section 79 and Section 86 of the Electricity Act, respectively.

4. In this regard, it is informed that the Ministry of Power vide Order dated 12.04.2021 has constituted an Expert Committee under the chairmanship of Shri Gireesh Pradhan, Ex-Chairperson, CERC to prepare and recommend National Electricity Policy (NEP), 2021 (copy enclosed). The Expert Committee is required to submit its suggested draft NEP 2021 within two months.

5. The National Electricity Policy, 2021 needs to play an important role in deciding the future of the power sector with renewed reform measures for the economic growth of the country. The main focus is expected to be on decarbonization, power market development, distributed generation in view of rooftop solar and other reliable new technology, etc. The policy may be consumer centric i.e., giving choice to consumers, better services, reliable and quality power, etc. Security of supply, cybersecurity, resilience in the power sector in view of the disasters management, securing supply to all consumers but in particular, all the essential loads in the event of any crisis, etc. are others areas of importance.

6. The suggestions of the various stakeholders including State Governments, Financial Institutions, Industries, consumers, etc. are very important for the future of the power sector. It is requested to submit your brief suggestions along with the suggested specific formulations, which you feel that need to be incorporated in the NEP 2021, in around 1000 words on the MyGov portal.

Electrical energy consumption needs lots of insight.We have hydel, wind, solar,nuclear Vs thermal coal, petroleum based,power generation with burning agro waste, municipal waste, process heat being utilised for steam and power.The burning fossil fuels are negative for greener country.Govt is promoting solar & wind with lots of investments.Nuclear has its own difficulties in maintaining & waste disposal. कड़ाई से निर्देशित करे साथ ही हर घर की छत सोलरयुक्त हो इसके लिये सौर ऊर्जा सिस्टम की व्यवस्था के लिये बड़ी सब्सिडी देकर देश की जनता को प्रेरित करना तथा कार्यक्रम आयोजित कर व प्रचार प्रसार कर लोगों को जागरूक किया जाना स्वच्छ, स्वस्थ व आत्मनिर्भर भारत निर्माण के लिये बेहतर साबित होगा! बिजली आपूर्ति शहर में तो ठीक है परन्तु कस्बों व गाँवों में समय से बिजली की सुविधा न मिलना, लो-वोल्टेज, मीटर रीडिंग लेने के बावजूद बिजली बिलों का गलत आना आदि तमाम समस्याओं के शिकार छोटे किसान व मथ्यम वर्गीय परिवार हैं

मजबूत व आत्मनिर्भर बनाने के लिये देश में बड़े पैमाने पर "सोलर पावर" की व्यवस्था कर अधिक से अधिक बिजली उत्मादन कर शहर से लेकर ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों के हर किसान हर घर तक सुचारू रूप से गुणवत्तापूर्ण व सस्ती बिजली आसानी से उपलब्ध करा सकती है! आज बिजली की माँग बढ गयी है आज प्रति व्यक्ति बिजली की खपत दोगुनी हो गयी है अभी तमाम दूर दराज गाँवों तक पर्याप्त बिजली की व्यवस्था नहीं है हर घर रौशन हो इसके लिये सरकार शहरों में नयी नयी बन रही बिल्डिंग्स को सोलरयुक्त बिल्डिंग का स्वरूप देने के लिये बिल्डरों को

National Electricity Policy (NEP) का उद्देश्य सरकार बिजली उत्पादन बढाने के साथ ही बिजली आपूर्ति की गुणवत्ता में सुधार की योजना तैयार कर रही है और इसके लिये अधिक से अधिक निजी क्षेत्रों की भागीदारी को बढावा दे रही है जो कि उचित नहीं है सरकार सभी बड़े बड़े विभागों को निजी हाथों में सौंप देगी तो सरकार के पास क्या रह जायेगा इसलिये सरकार बिजली जैसे बड़े क्षेत्रों का निजीकरण न कर स्वयं सरकार के अधीन रहना ही सही है इसके लिये सरकार देश में ऊर्जा क्षेत्र में भी रोजगार देकर देश को ऊर्जा क्षेत्र में

Sir Privatisation of power supplies is bad for common people. Sir, when we make private a government agencies common people will suffer. Sir, The rates or tariff will increase by company. Sir. it is my humble request to nationalised all power plants immediately to save common people.

Like National Educational policy, the national electrical policy should reach people in a keen way. so that people can know about this very well and start obeying to the rules of the government!!
