Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, I respectfully submit a request on behalf of senior citizens across the country. During the COVID-19 period, railway concessions for senior citizens were cancelled, and even now they have not been restored. Many senior citizens live on limited income such as pension or savings and receive very little support from children or relatives. Restoring the cancelled railway concessions would be a great relief to them. I also request the Government to consider providing special assistance for senior citizens during travel, including help while boarding and alighting from trains and assistance from the railway station to their homes if required. Such assistance may be provided on a nominal paid basis. At the same time, many unemployed and semi-skilled persons are willing to work part-time. This initiative can create employment opportunities while ensuring safe and dignified travel for senior citizens.
