“Its organic content adds carbon (organic matter) to improve soil health. The slow-release nitrogen feeds the crop over time while reducing leaching and volatilization by 50% compared to urea to improve water quality and reduce greenhouse gases (GHG),” says Semones.

The patented process creates a uniform enhanced efficiency biobased granular fertilizer with 15-16% organic content. Anuvia currently produces two products with different nutrient compositions, 17-1-0-20S (17% nitrogen, 1% phosphorus as P2O5, 0% potassium as K2O, and 20% sulfur) and 14-24-0-10S.

what should be our approach in farming. Should we use imported petroleum fuel using foreign currency & now Indian currency. Earlier animals were used. Now with fuel higher horse power is available to complete the work in shorter time. Use of bio fuels, solar, wind power has not reached the desired levels. There has to be a certain trade off between agricultural exports & fuel imports.I mean fuel used in direct cultivation including tractor & water pumps.EV tractors will be difficult as batteries will be expensive. Bio fuels energy efficiency will be comparatively lower. Hydrogen fuel could be the answer. But cost for farmers will be a big question mark.Being a country with large agricultural activities. The energy consumption for farming & manhours spent will be a major issue for high productivity & yields. The worldwide requirment of food from tropical lands will be high.Water, fertility, weather conditions, forecast, storage and quality will be major issues.

Reaching rural farmers
Innovative approaches to reaching remote rural farms are also working. The public-private partnership the Ghana Grains Partnership, of which industry leader Yara are a key partner, provides seeds and fertilizers on affordable credit terms to over 8,000 smallholder farmers, as well as storage and transport facilities, helping to reduce loss and increase profits. Public-private partnerships are proving to be incredibly effective, as they marry the efficiency and expertise of the private sector with the local knowledge and needs on the ground from the public sector.

Biostimulants may also be used to help enhance the nutrient content of crops; an example is Megafol Protein, a novel composition from Valagro, which can be applied to wheat to support the plant’s metabolism and significantly increase protein content.
