Nearly a decade and half has passed since the National Policy for Empowerment of Women, 2001 was formulated. Since then significant strides in global technology and information systems have placed the Indian economy on a trajectory of higher growth impacting the general populace and women, in particular in unique and different ways. The discourse on women’s empowerment has been gradually evolving over the last few decades, wherein paradigm shifts have occurred –from seeing women as mere recipients of welfare benefits to mainstreaming gender concerns and engaging them in the development process of the country. These changes have brought forth fresh opportunities and possibilities for women’s empowerment while at the same time presenting new and emerging challenges which along with persisting socio-economic problems continue to hinder gender equality and holistic empowerment of women.

The policy envisions a society in which, women attain their full potential and are able to participate as equal partners in all spheres of life. It also emphasises the role of an effective framework to enable the process of developing policies, programmes and practices which will ensure equal rights and opportunities for women.

The broad objective of the policy is to create a conducive socio-cultural, economic and political environment to enable women enjoy de jure and de facto fundamental rights and realize their full potential.

Men are human too. All the gender biased laws are heavily misused. Men are comitting suicides due to the false cases files against them and their family. I respect every women. I want every women to be safe in my mother land. But women are misusing the laws just to harass husband and his family. Laws like IPC 498a, dpa 3 & 4, ipc 376, 377, cRPC 125, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ARE HEAVILY MISUSED. GOVERNMENT SHOULD TAKE NECESSARY STEPS TO STOP THE MISUSE WHICH IS A HARASSEMENT FOR MEN. JAI HIND

Have Gender neutral Laws in our Country where both men and women have equal rights for all. NationalPolicyForWomen2016 is discriminatory and anti male. There are no provisions to save guard interest of mothers\sisters from men's victim family We want Misandry free environment in our country.

This #NationalPolicyforEmpowermentofWomen adds Fuel to fire in discriminating men and boys against a already biased system against men and boys. This drafting of the #WomenEmpowerment policy by #MyGov, clearly shows the agenda of bias against boys and men by #MinistryofWomenandChildDevelopment. The PDF attached should explain point by point as to why this #DraftNationalPolicyforWomen2016 is unwarranted and detrimental to our society.

This is a poorly drafted policy, forced sterilization of males won't work and it doesn't fall under your ministry. - There is nothing mentioned about male child welfare - What about male childs suffering from malnutrition - What about kids working in Dhaba, Highways - Today's children are tomororw's future of India,STOP discriminate btwn male & girl child - have a seperate ministry for male child alone

#WomenEmpowerment is good if it is done in right way. Ministry of Woman and Child is doing good work to empower woman and their well being is looked after. However we propose to amend draft which will serve purpose for empowerment and at the same time it should see that women are not misusing their empowerment. They should be accountable for all the goodies we provide at a cost of tax payer's money. To maintain strict record of violence by woman to their husband and child. Equal rights.
