Nearly a decade and half has passed since the National Policy for Empowerment of Women, 2001 was formulated. Since then significant strides in global technology and information systems have placed the Indian economy on a trajectory of higher growth impacting the general populace and women, in particular in unique and different ways. The discourse on women’s empowerment has been gradually evolving over the last few decades, wherein paradigm shifts have occurred –from seeing women as mere recipients of welfare benefits to mainstreaming gender concerns and engaging them in the development process of the country. These changes have brought forth fresh opportunities and possibilities for women’s empowerment while at the same time presenting new and emerging challenges which along with persisting socio-economic problems continue to hinder gender equality and holistic empowerment of women.

The policy envisions a society in which, women attain their full potential and are able to participate as equal partners in all spheres of life. It also emphasises the role of an effective framework to enable the process of developing policies, programmes and practices which will ensure equal rights and opportunities for women.

The broad objective of the policy is to create a conducive socio-cultural, economic and political environment to enable women enjoy de jure and de facto fundamental rights and realize their full potential.

Its again a major blow for men in India There is no way out for men Again I would say that there is no law to protect men Myself is the victim of biased laws When govt will open eyes to protect men only God knows When initiative would be taken for men

Dear Govt have you gone thru the current law. Please justify where it is equal. And does our courts and other pherophial bodies follow the law. Judges act like thekedars and judicial goons in the court. They think they are the kings and advocates are there to cheat. Please be wise and don't be biased. If the govt start taking strict action in the current scenario I promise you won't need anything extra to cure this problem. DONT BE BIASED.

This draft is inhuman. Are you destroying men from human system. After this policy, humankind will only have one gender, women (female). This will destroy the complete family system and will create havoc in our country. If this is made as policy, lets go back to where we evolved from, as that will be better than the new world this policy will build. Hope we drop this draft and come up with something which is human.

Such initiatives should be for both men and women based upon the individual needs. Blindly making empowerment policies for all women will create similar problems as have happened in case of caste based reservations. Empowerment policies should be linked to individual's economic status to bring the downtrodden to higher levels and not to empower individual who r already empowered. Look at specials laws like 498a, DV, CrPC125,etc. All these one-sided laws are against Hindu society n culture only.

Dear Govt. Please take in consideration Males also in a democratic and free country every men and women have equal rights and both of them should be dealt equally. Law is for everyone and excess to justice should be for everyone. So why the government wants to discriminate between women and men. Kindly change the prospective, women should also be put to equal law which are applicable to men. Please stop using religion on law. Religion does not govern law.

There are already many policies and laws for women which r being misused. First bring policy for harsh punishment for ladies who misuse it. Than make any new policy.

This policy will ruin the Family system and I would be very well ascertained that Indian men are oppressed. The government policy revels that "Men problems and his need has no consideration with the present ruling government". I am afraid to say but I am sure it would be true, if this policy come into effect there would be a national wide movement and for the women for which this policy are being they would only reject it. Think wise act right
