Nearly a decade and half has passed since the National Policy for Empowerment of Women, 2001 was formulated. Since then significant strides in global technology and information systems have placed the Indian economy on a trajectory of higher growth impacting the general populace and women, in particular in unique and different ways. The discourse on women’s empowerment has been gradually evolving over the last few decades, wherein paradigm shifts have occurred –from seeing women as mere recipients of welfare benefits to mainstreaming gender concerns and engaging them in the development process of the country. These changes have brought forth fresh opportunities and possibilities for women’s empowerment while at the same time presenting new and emerging challenges which along with persisting socio-economic problems continue to hinder gender equality and holistic empowerment of women.

The policy envisions a society in which, women attain their full potential and are able to participate as equal partners in all spheres of life. It also emphasises the role of an effective framework to enable the process of developing policies, programmes and practices which will ensure equal rights and opportunities for women.

The broad objective of the policy is to create a conducive socio-cultural, economic and political environment to enable women enjoy de jure and de facto fundamental rights and realize their full potential.

Priority Areas

1. Health including food security and nutrition
2. Education
3. Economy
4. Governance and Decision Making

Sorry no more policies for apeasement. We do not want any further women appeasement or empowerment at expense of men and male childrens. Men and male children are also Indian citizens why they should be deprived of benefits? why preferential treatment? All women laws are thoroughly misused by empowered women. statistics of misuse are alarmingly increasing. why do we need any special provisions? we are already against caste based reservations, why subsist with gender based programs at all?

All the laws should be gender neutral. If you want to make any policy, please make it gender neutral, for citizens of India irrespective of any gender. It’s very high time when Indian government should make ministry for men.

3. Many of children do not see their father for long, because their parents are in legal battle. It’s right of kids to meet both of their parents. Doesn’t ministry of child development feel such pain of children?

It is also pertinent to mention that “Ministry of women and child development” is with pre-occupied biased mind set. 1. They talk about girl child. What about boys? Are they not child, don’t they come into their ministry? 2. Why ministry of women and child development does not think about women who are facing false accusation from their daughter-in-law/sister-in-law and many of them had to go to jail. Are they not women?

In India suicide rate of men is almost double than women (Please refer NCRB data), men are facing fake cases of dowry, domestic violence, rape, Maintenance. Such laws are killing men emotionally, mentally and leading them to suicide. This policy must not be passed.

I condemn this policy very strongly. Such policy is against constitution. Women empowerment is equal rights and not special rights. Already there are more than 50 women centric laws in India, which have been getting misused since a long which is evident from many judgments from all level of courts. Our country was always family oriented and such biased policies and laws break our family values and destroy families.

We have voted BJP so that BJP will focus on true Gender equality as defined in constitution. We have not voted BJP to ruin the life of Indian boys with sickness of feminism. Already Indian boys are suffering a lot because of sick laws which stand testimonial to travesty of law, mockery of constitution making tamasha of basic human rights of Indian men & women. Who gave you authority to decide that certain section of society should suffer only based on their gender. We don't want our sons to suff

"Beti Bachao aur Beto ko Marvao, Beti Padhao Beto ko Phado"(Save Girls only not boys, Educate the Girls only & Truncate the boys).. I think this is what cud be the sense of poor biased National Policy for Only Women what about Woh Men..? "Hamare Bacho ko Sahi Padhao Sabko Bachao" needs to be gender Neutral & CentereD.. Because its not the men or Women who are enemies its the Ignorant & narrowed minds which are the Problem. Tamasoma Jyothirgamaya.Let there be learned light and not fight.
