Soft Skills like Team Work & working effectively in teams is necessary in order to be successful socially & globally. We have to teach in school education. In today’s ever changing, complex world, jobs are becoming more and more specialized, and the need to bring specialists together to form a team becomes even more important. Team work was increasingly becoming the hard skills of today's work force and in social engagements.

Before we talk of skill development, we need to check the basic elements of our higher education plan. Eg.: An anthropology graduate student seeks to prepare his dissertation for his graduation project. The guide/professor suggests to copy down from some 'existing works'! WE NEED TO OVERCOME FROM INDIVIDUAL AND INSTITUTIONAL INERTIA. IF YOU STUDY YOUR SUBJECT WELL, WELL ENOUGH. IF YOU CARRY OUT THE PRACTICALS OF THE SYLLABUS. IF...IF OUR PROFESSORS TEACH...SKILLS WILL BE DEVELOPED.

Though we are in 2015, the education system of choosing area of interest is still after 10th class. This should be brought down to 8th class, so that the children get enough time to master their area of expertise, so that they are work/skill ready by the time they pass out from school. As most of the student opt for work and prefer distance learning. In addition to this all the higher education system should be connected digitally to enroll each student, ITIs should be mapped with colleges.

Preparing Youth for a Successful Future Teamwork was increasingly becoming the hard skills of today's work force and in social engagements. It's just not enough to be highly trained in technical skills, without developing the softer, interpersonal and relationship-building skills that help people to communicate and collaborate as a team effectively. Teamwork, leadership, and communication are underpinned by soft skills development. Please find more details on the attached PDF.

Secondly, rope in leading industry experts to design or teach skills (which are in demand or generate high paying jobs) at leading institutes. These industry experts will definitely have contacts in HR so that after completing their course, students can get guaranteed placement assistance.

First of all, please get rid of the no-detention policy till class 8th. Due to this policy, students have no incentive to study or learn even the basic things. If India banks on skilled manpower to achieve high economic growth, then at least the foundations of such skilled manpower have to be strong. It is hard to believe that the no-detention policy strengthens the basic skills of students in any way.

At a secondary school level itself, "Soft Skills-ability to handle/interact/ understand people" should be made compulsory with a step-by-step approach. This is and should be different from just the "HR" subject that is just "another" subject in many pre-graduate courses. This is more about developing qualities like empathy, appreciation, acceptance of different opinions - understanding human emotions at a very basic level.
