Although Indian Railways enjoy the highest captive eyeballs in a railway system internationally, it earns less than 5% of its revenues through non-tariff sources. Many of the world railway systems generate 10% to 20% of their revenues from non-tariff sources.

IR typically has focused on increasing revenues through tariff hikes. It wants to change this and challenge the conventional thinking by exploiting new sources of revenue so that every asset, tangible or non-tangible, gets optimally monetized

We invite ideas from citizens on increasing non fare revenue for Indian Railways.

2. rail kuch local train ko bhi express jayse chalaye busy time pe, office time. jiska fare local train se kuch jyada hoga, express se kuch kom hoga....... uska monthly bhi hoga thoda jyada, o monthly ticket se local train mein bhi char sakta hein, express ka general mein bhi char sakta hein. o train jyada station pe nehi rukega, normal train se speed jyada hoga. train mein news, instrumental relaxing song chalega........ iska monthly bhi hoga debit card jaysa, kuch buy bhi kar sake, 2in 1.

Sir, I want to suggest the following 1. Make sure full utilization of railway vacant land. Ex : Hotels in PPP mode, Restaurents/Cafe PPP mode, Plantation of trees in PPP mode. 2. Development of existing and new vendors for all the services near by each railway zone with full monitoring and providing them infrastructure. 3. During online reservation through IRCTC, provide the option of seat selection in premium trains on chargeable basis as airlines do.

1. station ko mall ki tarah ki jaye. niche station rahega, upor me market. mera plan multistored building ki jaya train station ko. 1st popular junstion station ke upor plan ki jaye. eg. mumbai, newdelhi, howrah, sealdah etc etc. .................. niche se train , upor se super market. usko govt rental or lease pe de. mera idea bol raha hain, bahut sara company interest dikhay ga lene ke liye .

Develop Railway Stations under PPP model like Station is a building like a builder sell the commercial places to individual or an organisation. After that collect the maintenance charges. Don't Stupid policy which is adopted in Seawoods Grand Central in Navi Mumbai. It will give earning of Rs.10,000 crore per year.OR Go with Mr.Bk diberoy Committee report on Railways. Select 100 Stations in 1st phase based on 100 smart cities project Example-

A big part of revenues spent in the Electricity can be saved Knowing that there is a separate department in railways work on this. but as i think a target could be set to generate rooftop solar energy using the existing shed of railways. target in terms of the coverage of stations not the generation limit of course there is big capital investment but after 6 to 7 years railways will start earning. a separate company could be set for the same big no. of investors are are seeking same

Remove all the small food stalls from the railway station and construct only one big stall at each station providing all facilities of food etc which were being provided by ,ultiple stalls. This will also help to keep clean station and promote QUALITY AND STANDARD INDIAN RAILWAY.
