In the recently concluded Rio Olympics 2016, India sent its largest ever Olympic contingent comprising of 118 athletes. Despite the large number of athletes, the Indian contingent managed to bag only 2 medals in the Games viz., one Silver medal in Badminton and one Bronze medal in Wrestling. Considering the size of our country it can be said that the present performance was not up to the country’s potential. Views/suggestions are invited on what specific steps need to be taken to realise full sporting potential of India in forthcoming Olympics in 2020, 2024 and 2028.

Although our govt. has never been hesitant in allocating funds or appreciating talents, still the performance of current athletes suffer, one important issue which could be taken into account in this regard is QUALITY PARTICIPATION. Here two steps are highlighted which could be explored upon: 1. DISCOVER NEW HIDDEN TALENTS BY ENCOURAGING MORE PARTICIPATION 2. IMPROVING UPON THE CURRENT PARTICIPANTS Suggestions regarding the above two areas has been provided in the attached jpg. file.

1.First of all proper funding is needed for which I suggest a olympic cess on people earning more than 10lakhs. 2.Sports culture is needed to be developed from school itself by giving infrastructure like ground and equipments. 3.More number of leagues needs to be organised with proper awareness and sponsorship to make sports lucrative.

As like china and other countries, we have to select the contigent and train them for the minimum of 10years. Selecting the players for the next Olympics doesn't give us the desired result. For this Olympics we have sent large contigent, but only few got medals. Olympic committee should select the players, from the childhood itself. And train them for the Olympics which is going to held after 8-12 yrs. This will give us a good result. The Govt. has to provide all the players with the basic needs

Need to promote sporting culture right from school level.Include physical education and sports as part of education curriculum. Need to promote sports as an employment opportunity in the mindset of our people.BCCI's model of cricket promotion can be taken as a guideline. Scrap a separate sports ministry and integrate it with the HRD ministry. We should invest a lot in bringing a lot of foreign experts to train.Government should guarantee regular salary for sportsmen at national level.

first of all fedrations should be free from political person. It should not be used as gifts to workers of a political party.Just see atheletics fedration of india has 80 year old man sitting there.there should be seats reserved for sports person on nnational level. suppose a person plays national level and he is chaired as federation head then he will immediately give his experience to new generation.

Gaon ki chhote-chhote se bhhago me bahut talent hain jo cricket se adhik anaya khelo ko pasand karte hain aur chhamtawan bhi. Yadi abhi se chhote-chhote bhhago me camp lagakar talents ko bahar nikala jaye to hum aur adhik medals jeet sakte hain.
