In the recently concluded Rio Olympics 2016, India sent its largest ever Olympic contingent comprising of 118 athletes. Despite the large number of athletes, the Indian contingent managed to bag only 2 medals in the Games viz., one Silver medal in Badminton and one Bronze medal in Wrestling. Considering the size of our country it can be said that the present performance was not up to the country’s potential. Views/suggestions are invited on what specific steps need to be taken to realise full sporting potential of India in forthcoming Olympics in 2020, 2024 and 2028.

1.Immediate suspension of TOPS scheme as it differentiates athletes based on previous record. 2. Availability of Sports facilities vs maintenance of such sports facilities. Currently, no monitoring and accountability of maintenance of facilities. It starts with availability of water facility, hygiene, fitness equipments etc. 3.Simulation of such mega sports events during practice regime. Indian athletes often are exposed to such vulnerabilities of attending a mega event.

For the immediate Olympics 2020, we should identify about 300 best athletes in the country who have the prospect of winning a medal and create a special program for them wherein they are given special training facilities, wholesome nutrition and psychiatric help to help them perform at the best possible capacity. Moreover, the basic sporting infrastructure across different institutions should be improved for sporting events thereon.

To expect overnight changes will be a sort of open eye dreaming it is a process and need strict measures: 1)Introducing Sports as part of school curriculum will bring interest among children and will also help us to reach our Gross enrollment target. 2)Providing Sports Scholarship at various level 3)Provide more job opportunity than at present to sportspersons from various fields. 4)Importance must be given to Support staff 5)More involvement of former players in policy and decision-making

1.Stop the practice of states announcing cash awards in a whimsical manner.Institutionalize the monetary award system. 2.Indetify and nurture athletes right from primary schools. 3.Minimize politicization of sports bodies.Sports ministry should be under a sportsperson. Why don't we have Mary Kom or say Sachin as sports minister? 4.Ensure that sports persons are part of their federations. 5.Funding of athletes should be based be made transparently avoiding wastage and ensure accountability.

As of my view and We should these fallowing changes in Sports bodies in India. 1. Make all the sports bodies as a transparent in their activities. Should remove the corruption and recommendations. 2. The sports governing bodies should have the former and present athletes in a particular discipline. 3. Give a respectable pay for both Athlete and Coaches. 4. Improve the Infrastructure facilities immediately atleast at Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities cross the nation.

1.politics and politicians should not interfere in sports body. sports body heads should have that sports knowledge.not like lalit modi BCCI head. 2.there is lots of talent in indian streets and villages if nurtured will certainly increase medal tally. 3.to stop nepotism a sports vigilance agency should be formed. 4.sports budget should be increased. it is very low. 5.case study of china in this regard should be done. 6.ask sportsmen for better improvement. they have gone through it.

Focus on cricket should be minimised. World level exposure should be provided in almost every sports event especially Archery, Tennis, Golf, Gymnastics,Swimming etc, aa India have lot of potential but only due to last minute nervousness, participants lose. Coaches and Sports authorities should be made on PPP model:currently persons without knowledge/experience are the authority to from sportpersons. How can we expect the best performance? Parents should think 'sports'as career option.

Our main focus should be on one thing... To excel in it. We should learn from countries like hungary, Azerbaijan,Iran, etc.they mainly focus on a few sports and excel in that.hungary focus on swimming and fencing only and most of their medals are from these 2 sports. Grab a few sports in which he have got medals like wrestling, send as many as u can, badminton, same as before, boxing, shooting and weight lifting. These 5 sports with expertise can get us many medals and it will make a standard!

olympic medal is not an overnight fruit. we need to set up compulsory tournaments at school level in every sport. each and every registered school in india must send their best player further. that is how champions develop. any former player at any level or having any experience should be appointed as coach. a compulsory 45 minutes training session in school per week.
