In the recently concluded Rio Olympics 2016, India sent its largest ever Olympic contingent comprising of 118 athletes. Despite the large number of athletes, the Indian contingent managed to bag only 2 medals in the Games viz., one Silver medal in Badminton and one Bronze medal in Wrestling. Considering the size of our country it can be said that the present performance was not up to the country’s potential. Views/suggestions are invited on what specific steps need to be taken to realise full sporting potential of India in forthcoming Olympics in 2020, 2024 and 2028.

In order to improve performance in olympics govrmnt should focus on their sports at school level. Their should be ground for every school of day scholars & residential.their should be certain time for sports daily of their interest & it should be mandatory for every school atleast up to tenth class. Government has to pass a strict rule that a schl without ground & tym to play are going to cancel their licences. It should be taken as strict act.plspls provide tym to play for child lik academics

GOVT. to make a law that "WHENEVER A CASH AWARD IS ANNOUNCED (either by a Central Govt. or State Govt./s or a sports body ) TO A PARTICULAR INDIVIDUAL ATHLETE/SPORTSPERSON-75% of the announced award to go to that Individual, 15% to the Trainee/Coach & balance 10% to the Sports Academy/Training Centre/Sports Authority (then only they can create more infrastructure/buy more sports equipments, etc. WHICH WILL CREATE MORE & MORE SINDHUs, SAKSHIs, HARMAKARs, PARA OLYMPICS MARIAPPANs, etc.

Hard to say truth... We Indians still need to support Olympians of India before they won medal, not after they won medal. First of all we should support Narasingh yadav. No media even supported him nor us. How can he pass NADA but fail in WADA? No one take this as an serious issue. That's the problem. We don't support participants of Olympics and support winners of Olympics.

Sports Schools & colleges , should help nuture talent from ground root till they reach a stage of glory. This will also give respite to the parenets who feel if children get into sports they would not study and go uneducated . The school should be run and goverened by a mix of defence administrators and ex-sports people as coaches . This will also employ ex-sports people . Nominal fees should be charged and the ones who excell should get scholarships and will renew as they keep performing.

Abundance of talent available in this billion people young country. Keep reputed sports people as administrators and not politicians . The amount of administrators and politicians who benefit for being with the "sports authority of India" , the sports people dont. eg US sports people did not stay in the Brazilian sports village fearing zika virus , while our Indian athletes were reaching Brazil , just couple of days befoe the event. Stop politics in sports and India will go great.
