In the recently concluded Rio Olympics 2016, India sent its largest ever Olympic contingent comprising of 118 athletes. Despite the large number of athletes, the Indian contingent managed to bag only 2 medals in the Games viz., one Silver medal in Badminton and one Bronze medal in Wrestling. Considering the size of our country it can be said that the present performance was not up to the country’s potential. Views/suggestions are invited on what specific steps need to be taken to realise full sporting potential of India in forthcoming Olympics in 2020, 2024 and 2028.

How about hiring only those personnel into the management and training team who themselves have enough experience of any specific sport. In India, coaches have such type of experience but the superiors lack this learning. Thus they fail to understand whom to select and how to select.

Respected sir According to me ,village people are more stronger than city people.because they work hard from their child hood.so they have very good endurance. So conduct regular sports meet once in 6 months at the village level and select the candidates.those who have got selected should be paid .so that they will concentrate in sports.accordingvto their performance we should encourage private companies to sponsor them .They should be allowed to take part in practice meet

My concept is based on 2 basic points...instead of conducting different trials why cant we follow one nation one selection procedure...first of all every athletes should register himself/herself in an online application and every athlete is being ranked according to his achievements and once the selection season starts everyone is made to compete with each other irrespective of states districts etc...it should be just like football seasons of european countries..

3. level sports identification competitions should be organized regularly. The monitoring should be by a panel of interstate experts in various sports. Identification as early as 5-6 years of age would help early tracking and growth of athlete. 2...be paid. The university can be supplemented by existing regional sports infrastructure. Interaction of different athletes from different backgrounds will enhance performances of all. In addition, younger athletes performing well in regional centres can be sent to the University for 1-2 monthly training so that they can be prepared for a longer basis. 1.A world class sports university should be built, with specific focus on scientific approach to improve athlete performance. University campus should be based in an area where round the year temperature is suitable for sports activities. Athlete identification cycle for international competitions should be done well in advance. These athletes should be enrolled in the university, all their necessities be taken care of (food, residence, child schooling)..in addition a decent honorarium should...
