Create separate sports school from primary classes onwards where students will choose primary sport and secondary sport and give them thorough training. Side by side they should qualify achedemics papers without grading. Select best from these for National Sports Achedemy at different age brackets for different sports for final targetted training. Those not selected can complete full term and get employment as sports coaches, etc.

To win a big crown in any Olympic sport platform requires lot of dedication and commitment right from early childhood.First of all the Govt must provide conducive environment to get encouragement in sports It is heartening that more than a lakh of schools in rural parts of india doesnt have PT master where students are not exposed to diffrent intl sports.India has 70% rural population if we tap the energu of rural young and nurture them provide good envmnt we can really bring lot of medals.

I think we'd nurture our kid from school to take interest in sports.
If kid found very good in sports, make separate arrangement for him/her into school or to setup a kind of environment where they nurtured fully.
Government also have to establish Sports School and University only for the people/student/kid interested in sports in every state.
So from Sports school/university we can get better sports person.
Also this school/university must be administered by top sports person of India only.

I feel sports need to be nurtured from very early childhood to identify the kid's interest and capacity. As a government support DDA sports complex could be kept free for kids upto 18 years.

a)We must start with schools. These children must be having an alternate education plan which will be beneficial for them.
b) Sports in India at the national level is highly politicized and corrupted.Remove the current lot of administrators.
c) Do not encourage people in sports administrators/technical who have not achieved the top spot. They do not know anything about how to achieve. For e.g people just throw statements it will take 10-12 years to produce a champion.

remove all politicians connected with the sports associations. Let only the professionals of the sports lead the associations. Politicians are the most culplit for the bad performances of the athletes. Due to politics played by them desirable people are lsft behind and persons with good contact with the politicians find there way.

Are we competing among equals. Don't know. We need to do a SWOT analysis first. Analyse the countries who finished comparatively higher, map/profile strengths of their individual players, grooming and systems of training vis-a-vis Indian environment rather than blindly training them. How India could successfully compete in Cricket and a bit in hockey; may be the two back up managements do try to focus even though we lack in some areas like pace etc. Need to pick up small pilot straightway.
