Overview:-

The Internet of Things (IoT) can transform the agriculture industry and enable farmers to contend with the enormous challenges they face. The industry must overcome increasing water shortages, limited availability of lands, fertility of lands difficult to manage cost, while meeting the increasing consumption needs of a global population that is expected to grow by 70% by 2050.

Objective:-

New innovative IoT applications will address these issues and help in increasing the quality, quantity, sustainability and cost effectiveness of agricultural production. For example, leverage IoT can be leveraged to allow the farmers to evaluate the soil conditions, moisture level, livestock feed levels density and level of pest control. say if the level of pest control exceeds prescribed range, through sensors alarm and alerts can be generated to warn the farmers to take actions.

The purpose of “Smart Farming” is to increase the quality and quantity of agricultural production by using sensing technology to make farmers more intelligent and more connected.

With the help of this discussion platform we request you to share your valuable inputs on:

• How an individual or an organization may contribute to Smart Farming.
• Experiences and challenges in using technology as a tool in farming.
• Practical/workable solutions for complete imposition of the future of farming- “Smart Farming” using IoT

Some of my idea includes: 1. DD Kishan should be broadcasted with multiple languages with good education content about farming. 2. Horticulture department should visit every village once a month to resolve farmer’s issue and educate farmers. 3. A website/app should be launched for farmers supporting multiple languages where a farmer can get information about how to grow particular vegetable/fruits and how and where to sell it.

I think that many of farmers didn't recognize the pH value of their field soil.So as per as a proposal I think so,if government may used the college or university level geography and also the agricultural students on a project to exam the pH value of their locality it may helps to,the farmers to buy particular fertilizer as per the pH value. Please read my statement . thank you

Deploy drones to prevent and monitor crop damages. In many areas, farmers are forced to sleep out to watch their crops and install archaic scare crows without much success. Deploy drones to watch their fields against diseases, wild animal etc and alert farmers on real time basis. Block level KVK can be equipped with drones for this purpose. Drones can be even used for sprinkling seeds, insecticides etc.

Leverage Artificial Intelligence based on Big Data to provide guidance on appropriate crop selection , cropping techniques and farming approach. Data sources which could be leveraged are satellite inputs, weather/ climate forecasts, water position, soil conditions, local agri variables, world market conditions, stock positions, price forecasts, relevant scientific researches /publications, other countries policies, programs and actions etc.
