Overview:-

The Internet of Things (IoT) can transform the agriculture industry and enable farmers to contend with the enormous challenges they face. The industry must overcome increasing water shortages, limited availability of lands, fertility of lands difficult to manage cost, while meeting the increasing consumption needs of a global population that is expected to grow by 70% by 2050.

Objective:-

New innovative IoT applications will address these issues and help in increasing the quality, quantity, sustainability and cost effectiveness of agricultural production. For example, leverage IoT can be leveraged to allow the farmers to evaluate the soil conditions, moisture level, livestock feed levels density and level of pest control. say if the level of pest control exceeds prescribed range, through sensors alarm and alerts can be generated to warn the farmers to take actions.

The purpose of “Smart Farming” is to increase the quality and quantity of agricultural production by using sensing technology to make farmers more intelligent and more connected.

With the help of this discussion platform we request you to share your valuable inputs on:

• How an individual or an organization may contribute to Smart Farming.
• Experiences and challenges in using technology as a tool in farming.
• Practical/workable solutions for complete imposition of the future of farming- “Smart Farming” using IoT

Before discussing about smart farming we should talk about the basic need for the farming.. Lets discuss about the situation and solution from my side. Situation 1: In most of the states of Southern India are effected by drought . Suggestion 1: As per the plan suggested during the time of Sri Atal Bihari Bhajpayee our government should connect all the North Indian rivers with South Indian rivers through canals and for this we can utilize the NREGA & MNGEGA scheme labours.

Demand of Time is SMART FARMING ARMY(group of village unemployed youth trained with mechanise tool and represented to handle service and provide on demand at job rates. this will create huge productive employment, but paid for WORK MORE PAID MORE BASIS.(Funds spend through mnerga/food security/other scheme gave birth to new trend-unskilled section expect all free,no interest in job, output is effected, wage cost jumped on mood)we need to change to bring work/pay culture.

neglect of farming- reason labour/cost/water/inaccessible farms for mechanise use, poor farmers it is funds/water/drought/flood & shifting towards city's. WE need to aim 100% cultivation Prepare data of ownership/location/gprs to assist in productivity/subsidy. DO NOT disturb ownership, farm yield authority balance control on food and pricing.TO RESTRICT FOR COMPULSORY CULTIVATION,CREATE ACCEPTABLE ALTERNATE,-GROUP CULTIVATION/CONTRACT CULTIVATION/INDIVIDUAL CULTIVATION.KNOW WE REQUIRE ACTION.

water is a crucial raw material for farming. why do we then waste it on sugar and rice in water deficient areas. why does not ICAR make a study on return from water input and then the farmers can plant appropriate crops in dry areas? heard much nose in newspaper but never heard about any report on such aspects of farming. If it has been studied, then why does the Govt. not make an effort to correct the situation?

sorry to use this forum to indicate my disgust at Indian Bank, which recently planted a number of trees in the period Jan to Mar and claimed it as green initiative. When should one plant trees in India on Vanamahotsava or just before the summer. How many trees will survive. Why does Bureaucracy behave this way? how much money is wasted in trying to exhaust funds before March 31st? Why cannot you implement rolling budgets such that money and effort is not frittered away

Smart farming or rather any farming activity is not possible without proper use of water. Scarcity of water; forget about farming but even for drinking of human and animals is disheartening...! Quite shameful on the part of "Technocrats" than after the governments. Looking to the present circumstances, this problem can be resolved with the "Subsoiling" technique (fracturing of the subsoil below the hardpan). The results may be apparent, just after the current monsoon. I am ready.
