Overview:-

The Internet of Things (IoT) can transform the agriculture industry and enable farmers to contend with the enormous challenges they face. The industry must overcome increasing water shortages, limited availability of lands, fertility of lands difficult to manage cost, while meeting the increasing consumption needs of a global population that is expected to grow by 70% by 2050.

Objective:-

New innovative IoT applications will address these issues and help in increasing the quality, quantity, sustainability and cost effectiveness of agricultural production. For example, leverage IoT can be leveraged to allow the farmers to evaluate the soil conditions, moisture level, livestock feed levels density and level of pest control. say if the level of pest control exceeds prescribed range, through sensors alarm and alerts can be generated to warn the farmers to take actions.

The purpose of “Smart Farming” is to increase the quality and quantity of agricultural production by using sensing technology to make farmers more intelligent and more connected.

With the help of this discussion platform we request you to share your valuable inputs on:

• How an individual or an organization may contribute to Smart Farming.
• Experiences and challenges in using technology as a tool in farming.
• Practical/workable solutions for complete imposition of the future of farming- “Smart Farming” using IoT

SMART FARMING MUST BE DONE AT PAR WITH COUNTRIES LIKE CHINA, HONG KONG, MACAU JAPAN. WHERE AGRICULTURE IS CONSIDERED THE MOST IMPORTANT RESOURCE. INTRODUCTION OF SEED DRILL Water-saving irrigation, Facilities agriculture/horticulture, Farming materials, Agricultural machinery is necessary for our country. Our country must develop agricultural sector by developing agri industries in agricultural machinery, farming materials, cowdung, biopesticides, goat manure for laying in crops and fertile land

Pehle Kisan, phir Krishi. Emotional support is the first support we shall offer to the farmers by being with them in their good times as well as bad times becoming part of the farmers day today living. Ethical Support is the second support we shall offer to the farmers by being humble, responsive to their communications; not making them realize that there is barrier called Village lifestyle and city lifestyle.

Biodiversity: The production system is a component of the whole biodiversity of an area. The interdependencies of different plants, animals and their interplay with a biotic factors like soil, water and air can be properly understood, studied and documented. Farmers should be encouraged to understand the biodiversity, importance different animals and plants in the ecosystem. Through farming the population of earthworms and other helping insects should increase as they are the major contributors

To assess the uptake of nutrient after each crop and hence crop planning round the year to keep nutrient at desired level. Farmers working for soil health should be recognized and facilitated. Our scientists should come up with workable models to increase soil nutrient without much external inputs.

Soil health:Soil is the most important factor in farming.Keeping the nutrient composition intact can be major focus. Some steps can be land treatment to check leaching of top soil, decomposition of crop residues in the same plot after harvest, use of farmyard manure, vermicompost, biocultures, azolla in plots as a non negotiable measure. Introduction and regular monitoring of soil health card verification is appreciable. Farmers should be trained on plant nutrient cycle.

The integration of different activities will increase income from all the available resources for a farmer. While a farmers earns after the harvest of field crops especially cereals, pulses she/he can earn round the year through vegetables growing, poultry birds, cows or buffalows rearing.Reuse of manures of animals and crop residues to be a part of farm input to reduce dependency on external inputs. This will also reduce expenditure on farming.

Doubling Income of Farmers from Farming To The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Sir, I am sharing my ideas to double income of farmers from farming as follows for your kind consideration Production system: In a farm production system a farmers grows field crops, does animal husbandry and adds value to the farm produce before selling. Under a production system approach a farmer can be facilitated to plan around season wise field crop planning, horticulture or timber plant planning

for improvement of farming following further points can be considered 1) there would be forum for best practice searching locally , state wise and international level for every category. like water consumption (for example water consumption in china to produce one kg rice is one eight with compare to India) , productivity, quality, cost. 2) we must have micro level strategy making system for agriculture so that over production and under production can be controlled
