There are so many institutes in India providing skills in different areas. These are not recognized but they do provide skills. Some are good but others are a total waste of time. They do not have quality teachers nor are they equipped with proper facilities. This government initiative should bridge this gap.By setting up community colleges we can combine formal education with skills training across all the sectors. There is huge scope for recognizing this training and credits should be given.

Skill University is a very good thought but it would be practical if in all graduate and postgraduate courses one subject should be compulsory which will provide theoretical as well as training to students on any particular skill. Marks would be awarded based upon skill learnt.Only then will both educational institutions and the students be serious about learning something useful.
