In order to design an interoperable ecosystem of data, applications and processes, there is a need to formulate a policy for the Government Organizations to provide Open Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). The “Policy on Open APIs for Government of India” has been drafted to encourage formal use of Open APIs in Government Organizations. This policy sets out the Government’s approach on the use of “Open APIs” to promote software interoperability for all e-Governance applications & systems and provide access to data & services for promoting participation of citizens and other stakeholders.

You are requested to provide your inputs on the policy and suggest implementation approach across the government.

To read the abstract of Open API Policy please refer the following URL: https://static.mygov.in/static/s3fs-public/Draft_Policy%20on%20Open%20AP...

Last date for sending your suggestions is 10th November 2014.

Revolution needed for Indian VISA: I have Dual Citizenship (OCI) for my family, however due to my daughter's passport expiry I need to reapply for OCI transfer. This is very complex process and you know how difficult to go to indian embassy (or VFS office). Today I have returned from the VFS office because one of my document was not certified. I can not effort to go back to the VFS office (due to time, effort and money) Please simplify the process. Apart from OCI, we need to get visa now.

I own a Digital Media and Marketing company. http://digiwhiz.com.au/ Let me know how I and my team can help the country through our daily work ? We can run social media campaigns to spread awareness and to engage more people in any project. I believe in helping the country rather than giving advise or raising issues.

I understand Open API will help to access, share, submit or process data of Government between organisations and with Public; To achieve this, we need to consider 1.Provide only one mobile number in one's name; The mobile phone database to be maintained by GoI 2. Consider a parliament constituency as a group, with MP as head, 6 MLAs, supervisors, Councillors executives, citizens as members; Access the data through that identity; 3. Provide a mobile phone free for poor with the Open API apps

continue ....black money as I believe it is also matter of our security. Terrorism relies on black money as well. If we can trace some of that amount, we can also get to the terrorists before they get us.

we can tackle this: (1) BJP can bring about a strong lokpal bill. (2) Remove black money from Education so that the education is not dependent on "Donation". (3) Transparency in Government spending - with internet now this is possible. (4) Change the tax laws to ensure that Money stays in India. Reports suggest that 40% of FDI in India comes via Mauritius(That should be a red flag). Of course, I am not suggesting that we give up on idea of black money as

A US based group known as Global Financial Integrity has suggested in the report that India's black money would be worth about 462 billion dollars. Of course, this is a huge chunk of change but not as big as claimed in the election. This is what happens when you set unrealistic expectations as realities will catch up. I am certain with setting up of SIT and BJP's aggressive campaigning some of the money may have been moved to different parts of the world. Here are some of my thoughts on the how

Test post to check formatting features, hard to write useful posts if everything is a block of text. Wonder if html codes work
**Does the site support markdown?** NOTE: We need a section just for site feedback, so its more usable for discussions!

The BJP's announcement of Black Money List has turned out to be damp squib. This is precisely what I had said when the election cycle was going on. BJP, Baba Ramdev to AAP, everyone talked about black money and even suggested that it was close to Rs.1,456 lakh crores of black money. That would be equivalent to some 30 trillion American Dollars. That means that Black Money stashed away would be about 20 times India's economy and twice of US economy. That is not possible. continue...

500 words too less to explain, some ideas: 1. Mandate use of ODF formats for govt office work (easier querying of public docs) 2. Leverage & support open standards, avoid formats that need a proprietary tool .. cost to users/govt (whether MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, AutoCAD etc. - varying difficulty to get rid of them depending on alternatives) 3. Central repository of API documentations & examples with commitment of keeping it updated. 4. Security is important too, only use hashed password etc.
