The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports is implementing the Scheme of Pension for Meritorious Sportspersons since 1994. Under this Scheme, life-time monthly pension is given to those sportspersons who have won Gold, Silver or Bronze medals in Olympic Games, World cup/ World championships (in Olympics/Asian Games disciplines) or gold, silver or bronze medal in Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and Paralympic Games, provided that at the time of applying for pension they had retired from an active sports career or had attained the age of 30 years, whichever is later. The Ministry is in the process of reviewing the Scheme.

Scheme of Pension for Meritorious Sportspersons

The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports is also implementing Scheme of National Welfare Fund for Sportspersons since 1982 with a view to assisting outstanding sportspersons of yesteryears, living now in indigent circumstances who had brought glory to the country in sports. Lump sum ex-gratia assistance is given from National Welfare Fund for Sportspersons to the sportspersons or their families for medical treatment etc. The Ministry is in the process of reviewing the Scheme.

Suggestions are invited for the Scheme of Pension for Meritorious Sportspersons and Scheme of National Welfare Fund for Sportspersons.

Last date for sending your suggestions is 11th May, 2015.

Yes there is a need. followings r the reasons: To uplift their living, for medical treatment, for old age pension, for education of their children & for their all type of welfare etc. V can impose new tax on purchase of sports products similar to cess @ 1%. V can impose initially for two or three years on income tax similar to edu cess. There r other so many possibilities. Unutilized Funds if crore of rupee already surplus with BCCI & can be utilized for better amenities of sportsperson.

A grievance portal also must be setup for the #players/sportsperson to submit their complaints and the committee will review those weekly/monthly and ensure timely action of the same. All sports needs to be given equal attention and support. committee should have members from various sports.

Please ensure that the funds reach those sportsperson who are in need. There has been many complaints from sportsmen and athletes in the past that the federation does not support them. The federation needs to be strengthened and Govt should ensure that there is no financial crisis within the federation. A seperate committee like NITI aayog has to be formed exclusively for sports, which will take care of the sports infrastructure, welfare of the sportsmen of our country.

numbers of sports men, artist,writer,singer,students etc. are suffering for the lack of perfect platform. sir, ground label bjp workers are not doing well work specially in village panchayet. they have only convey one things that is modi name.

सभी संस्थानों के लिए खेलों का आयोजन उनकी वित्तीय क्षमता के अनुसार निश्चित किया जाए । बैलेन्स शीट मे खेलों पर खर्च को दर्शाया जाना निश्चित हो ।

गुमनामी की जिंदगी जी रहे मुफ़लिसी मे दिन गुजर रहे पुर्व होनहार खिलाड़ियों की तलाश करके उनकी शासकीय स्कूलों मे संविदा नियुक्ति "खेल शिक्षक " के पद पर किया जाने से युवाओं मे खेलों के प्रति विश्वास बढ़ेगा ।

Yes, indeed it's really good idea. They earned proud moment to country at their youth, it's high time that nation also look for their welfare now. Since there will be lifetime money security, it would again attract youth to join sports.

One of the major source of fund for this scheme (Pension for Meritorious Sports persons and Scheme of National Welfare Fund for Sports persons)may be arranged successfully through imposing reasonable surcharge on IPL (Indian Premiere League )Events.
