Under UJALA scheme, the main objective is to promote efficient lighting, enhance awareness on using efficient equipment which reduces electricity bills and helps preserve the environment. Efficient light bulbs, like LEDs, consume only one-tenth of the energy used by ordinary bulbs to provide the same or better light output. So, we ask you to suggest ways for promoting the use of LEDs on this open discussion forum.

Ask IIT to develop LED in India. Make it compulsory for new buildings / factories/ offices/Street lights. Sometime we get an IDEA and just want to prove that. LED is such one idea in govt. mind. Improve efficiency in other areas. Each time power goes in Industrial Area 30min to 1 hr production is waste. Power is surplus still industrial areas have power cut. Ensure un-interrupted power to Industries. Generators should not be used. Mfrs. cant buy efficient equipment. Generators increase prod cost
