Under UJALA scheme, the main objective is to promote efficient lighting, enhance awareness on using efficient equipment which reduces electricity bills and helps preserve the environment. Efficient light bulbs, like LEDs, consume only one-tenth of the energy used by ordinary bulbs to provide the same or better light output. So, we ask you to suggest ways for promoting the use of LEDs on this open discussion forum.

Most poor people may not afford LED all at a time. They use general bulbs and spend more in cumulative cost. But only providing subsidized LED may not effectively work on them. Because some of them may think to resell subsidized LEDs in higher market rate to others and bring back general bulbs again. So, the plan should be linked with their electricity bills, i.e. it should be ensured that the next electricity bills/units should be less than the previous month's bills.

1. Indian must adopt for solar powered street light LED's since sunlight is available throughout winter and summer. This will save other source of power bill. 2. Indian companies must be shortlisted who can manufacture LED bulbs with quality and long life with best standard. 3. Go for 100% Indian make technology on LED and encourage young graduate and engineers/ technicians/ entrepreneurs to design and built the LED lighting systems and award them contracts. 4. Make in India.

1. Package a set of LED bulbs (along with the new meter) for all new Electricity connections - this way atleast few rooms in a new house are covered by LED. Consumer can choose to buy additional for all their needs. 2. All commercial billboards and advertising spaces can be mandated (over a course of time) to convert to 100% LED usage. 3. Need more transparent information on fair LED pricing and certification, as there are multiple new brands and a wide price range today - which is confusing.

Government should encourage the people in village by distributing led bulbs in concession price by stall in camp by giving the ideas that led bulb saves electricity &gives bright light.. Because people in village uses the 100. Watts bulb even today.. Government should replace the village street lights by led lights instead of 100 watts bulb.... Thanks for giving me. Opportunity to share my idea..

1.The advantages of LED lights over conventional ligting systems can be provided on the cover page of NCERT/school books and notebooks. 2.We can have the light sources atleast in government organizations like schools/colleges/hospitals replaced by LED lights so that every connected person can view the advantages and benefits. 3. Exclusive shops for LED lights can be opened near schools/colleges, because the next generation is always curious, enthusiastic adaptable and dynamic.
