The TRAI has issued a consultation paper on 27.11.2019 on “Transparency in Publishing of Tariff Offers”. Considering the dynamics of the telecommunication sector, consumer faces situation of lack of information and misleading information. Further, the information accessed by the consumer is mosr of the time unclear or hard to find and even if the consumer is able to access information, it is difficult to assess and compare in the marketplace. All these factors affects the ability of consumer to make informed choice which serves their needs.

The TRAI through the consultation paper desires to explore newer consumer protection measures to enhance transparency in information communication such as mandating provision of cost calculators, introduction of unique id of tariffs to bridge the gap between tariffs reported and published, framework of display of tariff on websites etc. The following questions are being posed for comments of stakeholders. The complete consultation paper is available on TRAI website.

The last date for receiving the comments as extended is 23rd January, 2020.

Fine should be exposed on telecom companies if they are not able to good coverage because tariff is same for all people. So, every people has right to get equal service. TRAI should see if any company wants to expand the business areas, they have enough services to give people or not.

yes its needed very much as different telecom companies are taking different tariffs. Even its ridiculous to recharge 35 rs every month in rural areas. yes some amount of little fees should be taken but 35rs is not low amount of money for rural people. Secondly in many areas, people can't literally get 4G and when they give call to companies, telecom companies give excuses that many users using or ur place has low coverage but why the tariff is same with the place where you get good coverage.

Sir you should add more tax on imported products like apple products and you should take very very less tax from new companies in India this will lead to many employment opportunities

Respected Sir GST charges according to the type of goods. Similarly, GST should be charged according to the amount of recharge. 5% GST for 50 rupess recharge. As the recharge levels increase, the GST percentages should rise. Cell phone companies will also start making new offers. Phones are not an entertainment device, very essential. So GST should be charged according to the amount of recharges. Thankyou sir
