Shortlisted as one of the smart cities, Bhubaneswar today is a model of livability evident by the city’s stable growth rate in the recent decades. On the other hand, the city faces challenges that are negative consequences of urbanization faced by many cities. We now suffer from a growing threat to losing our open spaces to urban sprawl, increasing private vehicle ownership, and recently being ranked 25th among the 28 state capitals under the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The challenge now before us - in shaping the Bhubaneswar for the next generation - is to strategically leverage our strengths as we grow, while turning around the negatives. With your participation, the Bhubaneswar Smart City Proposal will provide solutions to ensure a sustainable, inclusive and resilient future for all its citizens. In order to succeed in this ambitious mission. WE need YOU!

We invite the residents of Bhubaneswar to share their views and thoughts on the most pressing challenges that the citizens face to turn Bhubaneswar into a Smart City?

The city of Bhubaneswar requires to ensure basic infrastructure services to enable a decent quality of life in urban pockets and a clean and sustainable environment and adoption of smart solutions and providing more public spaces to poor. It may be implemented through areas based approach consisting of retrofitting, re-development, pan city initiatives. There is also need of hours to develop and adopt a model code for development of new cities Pan India for continuous pace of Smart Development.

There is a great need to convert bhubaneswar into a smart city. But citizens are facing several problems in this.In many areas in bhubaneswar there is no proper drainage system and also many undeveloped broken roads. No proper garbage disposal system is availiable.Threfore people are throwing garbages on the roads n drains beside there house which are thereby getting chocked. There is no proper public toilets availiable in the city.Govt.has taken many initiatives but is not doing anything!

Sir since the city is resided by citizens mostly belonging to the middle class affordable services like economic housing facilities ,e services that are free or make less charges on the users etc can be adopted. The charges for various smart cities shall be made depending on the conditions of life of the citizens.Rains often make city life difficult with flooded roads. So effective drainage system with sensors to detect blockages can be a solution.

See is believing- I suggest we mount WIFI cameras on all the govt owned transport vechiles (buses / trucks / vans / 2 wheelers ) and connect them to various depts of public health / police / transport / roads / garbage clearance and many more ,these cameras will give live feed of the quality of roads / movement of vechiles / traffic violations/ garbage on streets / illegal hoardings / misuse of power for political rallies / road side tree cuttings / public behaviour in bus stands and many more

I would like to draw your attention to urgent need to reform the current municipal system. Under the current system corruption is rampant, and the welfare schemes are abused by corrupt politicians and officials. There is poor planning and even poorer implementation of rules and regulations. I request your good offices to take urgent attention of rampant corruption, official apathy at municipal level to improve the working condition of Indian citizens. Jai Hind

Post: Old Town, Bhubaneswar, could attract or boost more tourist for darshan at Lingaraj temple and other various small temples. There is no enough space in this place which could handle 1000 crowds at a time. And advanced better service could be done in more smarter way.

SHRI MODI SAAB,Time is very limited for VISION 2020.So, BEST IDEA to TAKE huge LEAP FORWARD IS BY ARRANGING COLLECTION BINS BY EVERY MUNICIPALITY FOR PRESERVING THE GARBAGE PLASTICS. BECAUSE THESE GARBAGE PLASTICS CAN BE CONVERTED INTO USEFUL OIL BY TECHNOLOGY like IN JAPAN, USA & THIS OIL IS FURTHER PROCESSED FOR GETTING GASOLINE, DIESEL, KEROSENE ETC., WHICH HAS 80% LESS POLLUTION LEVELS THAN THOSE EXPENSIVE PETROL WHICH WE ARE BUYING FROM SAUDI, IRAN, QATAR.So please listen this to matter SIR
