The State Transport Authority (STA), U.T., Chandigarh has initiated a citywide enforcement campaign against the illegal and pollution causing vehicles, especially diesel auto-rickshaws that had been plying in the city. This drive had been initiated in the entire city to take a firm step towards creating a pollution free environment in the city, keeping in mind the larger public health concerns of the residents.

As per the latest data submitted by the Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC), there has been a significant decline in the various pollutants including SPM, RSPM, SO2, and NOx in various places of Chandigarh being monitored by CPCC over the past two weeks, ever since the drive was started by the State Transport Authority.

Meanwhile, to facilitate passenger movement, Chandigarh Administration is also strengthening its public transport system, by increasing the number & frequency of buses of the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) and also enhancing their routes.

In view of this recent anti-pollution campaign of the State Transport Authority, Chandigarh Administration hereby invites citizens of Chandigarh to tell us what is their opinion about the banning of illegal and pollution causing diesel auto-rickshaws in Chandigarh. Further, suggestions/ideas are invited from the residents to help us ensure that a clean and pollution free air is provided in the City Beautiful.

Each individual need to be given carbon credit , which is depends on what mode of travel they use for daily commute, highest credit given to one who cycle/walk most, very less who use carbon emitting vehicle , these credit can be bought and sold as Gove give thresh hold limit of carbon to every per person , if any individual exceed the limit he or she need to pnealised.

Pollution is a very serious problem not only for Chandigarh but for the whole world. In order to control pollution one should take initiatives at local level by practicing car pooling, cycling etc. Most importantly, outdated vehicles which are an important factor for pollution must be banned.

Strengthening public transportation is a good step in this direction. 1. We should move to public transportation which use green energy. Like plying more E-rickshaws. 2. Replacing the Halogen lights on roads with LED's. 3. Higher tax on 2nd car in a household. 4. Producing cooking gas with bio waste of the city in two or three plants.

I am a helicopter pilot so certainly flying the most pollution causing machine. However they are very few in numbers. My pts to reduce pollution are as follows-: 1. Develop a culture of having bathing rooms with lockers/wardrobes in the workplace, cycling/running to the office will be more fun in that case. 2. Develop an electronic car which is much smaller in size which carries an indl or two (in tandem seating) with their necessary stuff like laptop etc for daily commute.

Plant trees. Planting a tree is simple than planting awareness about tree in people's mind.It is a challenge and let's accept this challenge and make it reality. One family member at least one tree should be planted. Go cycling or walking for small distances.

One of the best way to reduce pollution is to go cycling. Using a bike or a car for short distances is simply but a waste of fuel. Or better, use a public transport. This can save petrol and reduce mining of seafloor to obtain petroleum.

One of the way of controlling air pollution is through vehicle pooling. Vehicle pooling should give points that can be redeemed or can be exchanged for items / free-rides.

Myself Vivek Kumar, sales engineer I want to say that we need to attract people toward green energy i.e. we need to promote the electric bike and cars and to do this I urge to manufacturer that to make it successful you should make it comfortable from the customer point of view. First they should make enough battery exchange outlet in a city where a person can change it drained battery with charged one with in a minutes. If it is done 90% things get completed. Jai Hind

hmm, bit with cells to store the smoke emitted out in nature and is emitted by neutralizing the harmful effects, majorly flights that fly on top of us is nearer to cloud and maybe it should be the main one to harm the clouds easily, maybe lack knowledge but hope it makes some sense.
